INDIANAPOLIS -- Some mothers said Friday they disapprove of a controversial state law that goes into effect July 1, making it legal to carry guns in Indianapolis city parks and playgrounds, which is currently banned by a city ordinance.
The new law generally prohibits local governments from regulating firearms, 6News' Joanna Massee reported.
Mothers who brought their children to Garfield Park told 6News that they disagree with the law.
"Why would you need a gun at the park? You're supposed to come to the park to play with your children," said Eyvonna Hyatt, who has a 3-year-old daughter and a baby on the way. "Kids get shot every day with guns, because they're playing with guns. What are you going to do when you bring your kid to the park and you've got your back turned and your kid takes your gun?"
Tarra Higgs, a mother of three, said she is also opposed to allowing guns in parks and playgrounds.
"If I was to bring my kid to this park, and I (saw) somebody here with a gun, even if they had a permit and it was on their side, I would still probably leave," Higgs said.
The argument in favor of allowing guns in parks and preventing local governments from regulating firearms stems from the Second Amendment.

I’ll bet this law will cut down on the number of “Amber Alerts” in the state though. Fewer missing and dead kids too! The “bad boys” will take their gig somewhere else to play.

Lazamataz:One gun per hand, maybe, with others concealed all over your body, and taken out of your gun safe with 145 rifles and 199 pistols in it. If you claim to be NRA, then presumably you have some experience shooting. Even passing experience shows you that multiple calibers are meant for different applications. That ALONE means way more than one gun. Also, shotguns, rifles and pistols have completely different uses. More than one gun there, too. I suspect the NRA claim is false. If not, you need some education.
