Guns To Be Allowed In Playgrounds(IN)

INDIANAPOLIS -- Some mothers said Friday they disapprove of a controversial state law that goes into effect July 1, making it legal to carry guns in Indianapolis city parks and playgrounds, which is currently banned by a city ordinance.

The new law generally prohibits local governments from regulating firearms, 6News' Joanna Massee reported.

Mothers who brought their children to Garfield Park told 6News that they disagree with the law.

"Why would you need a gun at the park? You're supposed to come to the park to play with your children," said Eyvonna Hyatt, who has a 3-year-old daughter and a baby on the way. "Kids get shot every day with guns, because they're playing with guns. What are you going to do when you bring your kid to the park and you've got your back turned and your kid takes your gun?"

Tarra Higgs, a mother of three, said she is also opposed to allowing guns in parks and playgrounds.

"If I was to bring my kid to this park, and I (saw) somebody here with a gun, even if they had a permit and it was on their side, I would still probably leave," Higgs said.

The argument in favor of allowing guns in parks and preventing local governments from regulating firearms stems from the Second Amendment.

What kind of sane society would even consider forbiding adults from exercising their Constitutional rights on public property?

You are going to surrender your firearm to the police right away because you are too incompetent to own a firearm.

“Why would you need a gun at the park? You’re supposed to come to the park to play with your children,”

Because somebody else might be coming to the park to play with your kid and he has a “Wiener”!

I’ll bet this law will cut down on the number of “Amber Alerts” in the state though. Fewer missing and dead kids too! The “bad boys” will take their gig somewhere else to play.

Stupid people are so aggravating. A playground is to predatory humans what a water hole is to a lion.

Why should I have to take my gun home before I can even drive through a park?

The anti-2nd ammendment crowd is on the strategic defensive right now. What they are attempting is to construct fire-breaks to limit the where & when of CCW. I call it the "Green Eggs & Ham Campaign". Would you like them in a Park? I would not could not... You get the idea.

It's all a delaying action until the tide turns. Probably waiting on events. They had thought the Gabrielle Giffords thing could be such an event, but they were wrong.

A gun-carrying, 2A person might have well stopped the Gifford’s ordeal. Now in Chicago transit buses are being terrorized by thugs. This Nation has lost her bearing with Hussein in charge. I will shoot the MF that gets near me with that crap.

Don’t take your guns to town, son. Leave your guns at home, Bill.
Don’t take your guns to town.
You might offend a young mother.

I prefer to think of it as a variation of the “Chewbacca Defense” (credit South Park): use an argument that is so nonsensical and irrelevant to the subject at hand that it literally makes the jurors’ heads explode.

"Kids get shot every day with guns, because they're playing with guns. What are you going to do when you bring your kid to the park and you've got your back turned and your kid takes your gun?"

Let's see now .....

Your child is in a park, in a state that is part of the united States of America, the which enjoys the liberty and freedom of self protection.

You may as well ask,

Why aren't you carrying it?

Maybe you're not trustworthy enough to have a child ???

They'll change their minds once a law-abiding citizen puts some hot lead through a maniac while they're sniveling and panicking.

Just sayin'.

Some mothers don’t realize that criminals could care less about laws. Some mothers are pretty damn stupid.

Calling you out. No Freepmails to me, sirL, make your views known. The following freepmails were sent to my account from this individual:

rp9944: I’m in the NRA but I think you should be limited to one gun.

Lazamataz:One gun per hand, maybe, with others concealed all over your body, and taken out of your gun safe with 145 rifles and 199 pistols in it. If you claim to be NRA, then presumably you have some experience shooting. Even passing experience shows you that multiple calibers are meant for different applications. That ALONE means way more than one gun. Also, shotguns, rifles and pistols have completely different uses. More than one gun there, too. I suspect the NRA claim is false. If not, you need some education.

rp9944: I change my mind. Ban real guns but allow everybody to have unlimited waterguns. I’m pro life and pro heterosexual marriage and for a USA flat tax. I voted for McCain and support republican Mitt Romney in 2012. Dont ya think obama stinks as president? waterguns do more to deter crime then real guns and im a bona fied NRA member

Admin, subsequent messages make me very convinced this is a targeted troll.
