HARTSDALE A state agency has told New York's animal cemeteries to stop burying the ashes of pet owners alongside their beloved cats, dogs and parakeets.
The order from New York's Division of Cemeteries comes as a growing number of Americans are deciding to share their final resting place with their pets.

NY can stuff it. I hope the cemetery sues successfully for its customers.
Of course this is the same bureaucratic behemoth that digs up cemeteries for urban renewal or just paves right over them. One set of grandparents are buried under a highway.
Indian burial grounds? Can't touch those! Those are sacred! /s

I had asked at the vet’s what it would cost to cremate my dog if she died in winter and I couldn’t bury her due to frozen ground...the cost goes by weight and its cheaper than a cremation for humans....I am cheap and wanted to know if they take people’s remains also....the staff at the vets office got a good laugh, but I was semi-serious....:O)

The Hartsdale Pet Cemetery is a wonderful place to inter your beloved pet. The also do cremations, solo or mixed to go into a garden they have for all that don’t want to take back their ashes.(it’s extra to take ashes). I have had 4 of my babies cremated there and brought each ashes home. When I brought my first cat age 21, they gave me time to say goodbye and spend time with her. They are a most caring place, where they are sincerely interested in the mourning people go thru upon losing a pet. I did not know about the human aspect, but don’ t really have an issue with it. I personally would prefer to have a Catholic burial, and my family members slip the ashes in my casket.
If you are ever in the Westchester area, take the time to visit this cemetery. It is a beautiful cemetery built on a rolling hill. It may even be a historical site

It isn’t that they care about your ash’s being burid in the pet cemetary.
The problem is that if your ash’s are left there they cannot sell you a place for your ash’s at a human cemetary.
Follow the money.

Why wont Louisiana let monks build caskets?

She said that remains buried in human cemeteries benefit from state protections more so than if they are buried at pet cemeteries. For instance, she said human cemeteries qualify for the state-mandated permanent maintenance fund, which ensures that lots and cemeteries are maintained.Freakin' amazing - the same folks who have no qualms about stabbing a partially born child in the head are oh-so concerned about "protecting" the worthless ashes of a soul long departed and a body no longer needed.

Texas has no law regarding ashes. I told the old lady to put sprinkle me around our private “pet cemetary” so she’d be more likely to visit....
