Newt is through.
Romney has way to much baggage with Romneycare and man-made global warming.
Ten years as governor of a real state is significant.
Perry and Cain both have business experience and can explain the economy.
Perry has an immigration problem, but his stand was necessary in Texas.
Worshiper or not I think Palin will fire up the liberal base which has been nicely depressed by Obama.
Palin worshippers? Awww, that’s raw, Sir. Since when is wanting a strong conservative candidate who has a clear record of getting the job done considered worshipping? And why would it nixx you off in the first place.
Perry has a clear record of NOT GETTING THE JOB DONE, and this legislative session shows that CLEAR RECORD. He sat back and watched the whole time and let the really important legislation back up until the end and he STILL is not pulling up the legislation we clearly value!
To clean up Washington DC, we have to have a candidate who will step foot in the Oval Office and start slashing and burning government programs NOW! We are in a serious load of krap, in case you didn’t notice. Are we going to have to sit back and wait for Perry to get the load out of his behind for four years?
I like Cain, and I like having Perry for governor as opposed to having Bill White for governor. But in the Oval Office I would like to have somebody with a clear record of success, and you cannot deny what Sarah Palin accomplished in a mere three years of her governorship, INCLUDING the crown jewel of putting corrupt elected officials in jail, even in her own party.
Perry wants open borders because that’s the popular view in Texas? Is that what you’re saying?
This is the guy who signed a bill forcing people to get their 13 year old girls a Gardisil vaccination.
Just to set the record straight Perry signed no such bill as one was never enacted by the legislature.
Public outcry had to set him straight.
I ask you honestly, how well are we doing with the ‘elect them now and hold their feet to the fire’ strategy? How did that work out with Bush? The 2005 congress? Now?
We’re going down the tubes and we can’t afford to put someone in office that doesn’t get it on his own without us constantly reminding him.
So as I said Perry signed no such bill as so stated in a previous post.
Sounds like another Bush to me. Opposition to illegal immigration is one of my litmus test. I know. I know. We voters aren’t supposed to have litmus tests for the candidates. Ideology is irrelevant. Electability is paramount. Support the party at all costs. YUCK!
I do believe he just skipped the whole “legislation” part and made it an executive order.
Cain is a rock solid conservative, but his best hope is as someone’s VP. He has the same problem Palin had a few years ago. Solid beliefs without comprehensive understanding. There’s some fundamental questions like ‘Do you support gun control?’, ‘Do you support the right of return?’ or ‘What would your policy in Afghanistan and Iraq be?’ that you simply need to have straight answers on. The guy has never run in the big leagues before, and it shows.
Perry is not a rock solid conservative, but he is a veteran politician who reliably wins elections and has a record with more good in it than bad. He’s not going to get caught in rookie mistakes in a major national campaign. By comparison, his resume looks awfully strong compared to Barack Obama. Lots of jobs created, strong overall economy.
The GOP-E is going to run a full court press to get Romney the nomination, and Mittens has the money and name recognition to do it. Novelty candidates aside, there’s only a handful of folks in Mitt’s league (called governors), and Perry is one of them.
If Palin doesn’t run, then we need a plan B. (And B doesn’t stand for Bachmann. Representatives just don’t get elected President, especially junior ones.) I’m open to suggestions, but unless Palin or Perry steps up and gets in the ring, we’re going to get stuck with Romney.

I saw him on some show in an interview situation, and even though I agreed with him, his answers were so programmed and insincere that he just made me sick.
No thanks.
Are you talking about the Perry that pulled 35% of the vote in a previous election and won the last one because of the choice between him and an establishment RINO (Kay Bailey Hutchinson).
I’ll stay home if that is the best the Repub’s can do...
I do believe he just skipped the whole legislation part and made it an executive order.
I know what he did but he didn’t sign legislation as so stated which isn’t true.
Texas is the largest red state in the nation, and it has a strong, conservative governor.
While a bunch of politicians have gone to Washington, hat in hand, seeking a bailout, Governor Perry has said we should stimulate the economy with tax cuts and maintain spending discipline. Rick Perry is true to conservative principles even when others think the party needs to go a different direction. I like that about him: he doesnt care which way the wind blows, he acts on his beliefs.
That's why I am supporting Governor Rick Perry for re-election. He does what is right regardless of whether it is popular. He walks the walk of a true conservative. And he sticks to his guns and you know how I feel about guns!
With our current economic crisis, and working families worried about their pensions, jobs, credit card debt and rising home foreclosures, we need strong conservative leadership in trend-setting states like Texas.
Rick Perry is a leader. While the nation lost half a million jobs in the last year, Texas gained 250,000 net new jobs. He improved the job climate in Texas by refusing to raise taxes in the face of the largest budget deficit in Texas history. He had the foresight to join legislators in saving for a rainy day. And he has consistently asked agency heads to cut their budgets even when surpluses were rolling in. My fellow Republicans, thats consistent leadership. That's Rick Perry.
Governor Perry has also advocated for greater domestic drilling for energy, and a diversified energy mix including greater development of renewable sources so America is not held hostage by Middle East ayatollahs and foreign dictators. But in order to overcome extremist opposition to responsible exploration, we need proven leaders in energy states like Texas who will not back down when it up comes to expanding the energy supply.
Let me say one more thing about my friend and your governor: he knows all human life is precious. Rick Perry believes in protecting the most vulnerable in society, and who is more vulnerable than an unborn child? Our value as human beings in the eyes of Our Creator is not diminished by any circumstance.
Not every child is born into ideal circumstances, but every life is sacred. Rick Perry knows this it is at the core of his being.
Will you join me in supporting a true conservative for governor Rick Perry? We need Texas diverse and strong economy to help pull us out of our economic troubles. That requires a proven CEO as the head of state government. Rick Perry is proven and principled. And we need that in the governor of our nations second largest state and most prosperous economy.
And the answer is . . . SARAH PALIN.

Most recent Presidents have been governors. Governors don't have foreign policy experience.
Is there an official FR policy on immigration?
If Perry runs you can look forward to your long day at home.
I think it involves alligators and a moat... :p
