WASHINGTON (AP) -- Newt Gingrich says he's staying in the race for the Republican presidential nomination despite an unprecedented mass staff exodus.
In a posting to his Facebook page, the former House speaker says he will run the "substantive, solutions-oriented campaign" that he set out to run earlier this spring.

Buh bye, Newt! Don’t let the screen door hit ya.
Man, this guy is out of touch. I’m not even sure his family would vote for him.
YEAH! WOOOOOO!!! YOU SHOW ‘EM HOW IT IS DONE!!!!
WAR TO THE KNIFE, AND THE KNIFE TO THE HILT!!!! YOU CAN DO IT!!!!
*snickers*
Just sit on the couch and let Pelosi comfort you, Newt.
Just sit on the couch and let Pelosi comfort you, Newt.
Hey Newt, Rep Weiner is going to have a staff looking for work soon, maybe you could hire them.
Gingrich/Weiner 2012
Sad. He really is mentally ill. It is fascinating how destroyed he is making himself. To think that he had a relatively good reputation at one point. Now he is no more than a laughing stock.
Goodbye Newt. Don’t let the door hit ya, where the Good Lord split ya.
He might stay in it, but he’s toast.
His re-election staff couldn’t stay together. What makes him think he could put a presidential team together?
Newt, it’s over. Grab the bull by the tail and face the situation.
Who?
Was he the guy on the sofa with Nancy Pelosi?
Newt was always better at talking the talk than walking the walk. Even in the early years, before he really decayed, I remember saying,
“Newt. Newt. You’re a great attack dog. You won the election with your great attacks on the Dems in congress. Now you control congress. Stop talking, and start DOING something.”
But he never seemed to be able to make that transition, not even before he fell apart. Clinton ran all over him.
Gingrich....stifle!
Zippit!
Shut the &*^% up.
Go away.
Gingrich is stuck.
His problem is, if he would (not) have quit as Speaker, he would have been president by now.
I think he knows he made the wrong decision then - and it trying not to repeat it. Understandable, but it really won’t work. Some decisions are hard, in hindsight. Speaker Gingrich, sorry. Really. But that was then.
Newt’s a sad story of a guy who couldn’t hold onto the gold when he had it. His feet were too inviting a target to ignore. Sadly, his last ship out has long since sailed, and he just can’t come to grips with it. Back to the classroom, professor. That’s as good as it’s going to get.
Take Mitt with you when you go. He’s dead meat also.
