CNN Poll: Obama approval rating drops as fears of depression rise (Rick Perry anyone?)
CNN Political Ticker ^ | June 9, 2011 | CNN Political Unit

Forty-eight percent say that another Great Depression is likely to occur in the next year - the highest that figure has ever reached. The survey also indicates that just under half live in a household where someone has lost a job or are worried that unemployment may hit them in the near future. The poll was conducted starting Friday, when the Labor Department reported that the nation's jobless rate edged up to 9.1 percent.

"The poll reminded respondents that during the Depression in the 1930s, roughly one in four workers were unemployed, banks failed, and millions of Americans were homeless or unable to feed their families," says Holland. "And even with that reminder, nearly half said that another depression was likely in the next 12 months. That's not just economic pessimism - that's economic fatalism."

According to the survey, more than eight in ten Americans say that the economy is in poor shape, a number that has stubbornly remained at that level since March.

Not surprisingly, with that much economic angst, the economy is the number one issue, the only one that more than half of the public says will be extremely important to their vote for president next year. Nearly all issues that at least four in ten say will be extremely important to their vote are domestic issues. Terrorism also makes that list, but Afghanistan is fairly low and Libya is tied for dead last out of the 15 issues tested. Abortion and gay marriage also rank very low, indicating that 2012 may be an election that is shaped more by bread-and-butter issues than social and moral concerns.

God rules in the kingdom of men. The American people wanted Obama and God let them have him. Just like the Israelites wanted Saul. After Saul came David. Reminds me of Jimmy Carter/Reagan. There is no set outcome, "the earth and all nature waits breathlessly for the manifestation of the sons of God" why? So God's will will be done by the prayers of his sons.

Indeed; except there IS no logic. Funny how we’re being pitched RINO after RINO in a field already full of RINOs.

Like the old french fry joke.

I would like a burger and fries.

The fryer is broken we don't have any fries.

OK then, a hot dog and fries.

We don't have any fries. The fryer is broken I said.

Well, how about just a Coke and some fries?

We don't have ANY fries!

OK I'll just have some fries.

Listen to me. Who put the ape in apricot?

There ain't no ape in apricot

Right. Who put the pine in pineapple?

There ain't no pine in pineapple.

Right. Who put the Freak in french fries?

There ain't no Freak in french fries.

That's what I've been telling you jackwagon, there ain't no FREAKIN french fries.

So now it's like...OK, you don't like RINO's got it. How about a different RINO then?

Well, how about just a RINO?

So...who put the Freak in RINO?

A lot of those places can't change, they've been lost.
Girlfriend, you're preaching to the choir there. I'm in Jefferson County with Orange County just to the right of me. Two islands of blue amongst a sea of red.
I've seen it all of my life.

Your posts have been excellent, but this one closed the deal on Perry for me. I had a favorable first impression of Perry. Not any more.

The issues you've brought to light are very important to me and Perry appears to be on the wrong side of all of them.

And still, you fight!

That’s what CNN, Obama and all the progressives in the world can never take away from you.

Carry on.

I don't expect her to run. I expect Perry is the man in the back room the Palin/Tea Party/America 1st wing of the party has been bonding together to present to the Republican electorate when the time is right. Perry is their answer to the Rino/globalization coalition of Rove/Bush Sr./McCain types.

I see another Tea Party coalition forming within the Republican Party among the political Tea Party folks. I see Palin as the Samuel Adams of this new group and I think she knows it.

Take a longer look GBA and read up on all the issues before making such a blanket statement and taking a stand.

I’m still not getting where Rick Perry is a rino. McCain is a rino. Lindsay Graham is a rino. Gingrich is a rino. Giuliani is a rino, etc. From what I’ve seen Perry is more conservative than a lot of others who call themselves Republicans. Another honest question we have to face is can we win without independents swinging our way as they did in the 2010 election.

I can tell you that in the past 8 months the equipment I sell is going into repair and replace projects instead of new machinery.

Number of invoices has doubled but the average amount of each new invoice is cut in half.

And my wife works for a construction company as a bookkeeper/bill payer and people are screaming for money and going out of business.

Stimulus brought in some projects but nobody hired new jobs just worked OT in the field and in the office. And you have to jump through hoops to get the projects and then you have to jump through hoops to get your money.

Takes her triple the amount of time to do payroll because of the government paper work.

That link was from 2007.
You asked where the kicking and screaming was and I showed you.
What does it matter when the kicking and screaming took place as long as it took place?

Who’s been drinking on 6th st.?
Still looks like you from here.

Well I heartily appreciate that. I still, unfortunately, have naysayers so I'm not doing that well apparently.

I’m with you...I like Perry. Has he made mistakes? Yes..but he usually corrects them in short order. I am a Palin supporter all the way, but if she doesn’t get in the race, I’ll probably be pushing for Perry. I remember him coming to some of the very first Tea Parties here when none of the other politicos would touch them with a ten foot pole. That counts for alot in my book. He would do a great job as president or VP imho. Our state is doing better than most states in this country and while it’s not all his doing..it IS conservative governing that sets us apart from the rest.

So the ethics of Cain, Palin and Perry are fully incompatible with the majority of reprobates and criminals who call themselves "Americans".
The American people lost the ability to elect their leaders over a century ago; Barry will win again because of apathy and fraud. As I have stated before, Barry is this country's last president.

As you and I realize ... and I hope many others here and throughout the country realize also... the war will be waged against the left certainly...but also against those who both profess to being "on the right", or are so "down in the mouth" that they do more harm than good.

But...make no mistake....this will be a war!

"Either you are with us, or you are with them!" (President Bush - loosely quoted).

There will be no "middle ground" in this election. No compromise. It will be either win....or lose.

I, for one, will not lose.

If Perry does enter the race, it will ultimately be up to him to make the sale.

I don't expect her to run.
So then you expect Perry to support her if she runs at a later date for her support of him now if he runs following the aspects of political expediency I mentioned?
You can't just gloss the question over with platitudes and not expect me to question you!

And why, in this political and economic climate, being a Texas candidate is not a bad "brand."
