Rudy's Running (To take out Romney?)
Weakless Standard ^ | Wednesday June 8, 2011 | Bill Kristol

Posted on 06/08/2011 5:01:12 PM PDT by Bigtigermike

I'm told by two reliable sources that Rudy Giuliani intends to run for the GOP nomination for president in 2012. He may throw his hat in the ring soon.

Rudy's theory of the race: In the fall of 2007, he decided he couldn't compete with both Mitt Romney and John McCain in New Hampshire, and disastrously decided to try to pull back there and pitch his tent in Florida. This year, he'll commit everything to New Hampshire, where he thinks he has a good shot at beating Romney—whom he criticized there earlier this week. He then thinks he can beat whichever more socially conservative candidate(s) is left by winning what are still likely to be winner-take-all primaries in big states like California, New York, and New Jersey.

Rudy's message: I'm tough enough to put our fiscal house in order and to protect us from enemies abroad. The U.S. in 2012 is in bad shape—like New York in 1993.

Rudy and Mitt remember Reagan had to have his Bush Sr.

You mean the George H.W. "No new taxes" Bush?? Please, spare us.

California, New York, and New Jersey- three states that wouldn’t vote for the Republican if Obama was filmed burning the Capitol building down and urinating on the ashes.

You’re telling me! Guiliani nearly killed-off Bush with that NYC good-ole-boy nomination.

I’m all for Guiliani and Romney dueling to their political deaths! Let ‘em go for one another’s RINO records.

Rudy is as liberal as Mittens. On top of that he is a criminal who only escaped trial because his crimes didn’t come to light until after the statutes of limitations ran out.

“Party unity” demands a balanced ticket.

But an establishment Rino would have a great shot at VP.

Perhaps, but not a pro-abortion RINO/moderate. Rudy has no path to the nomination and would be a largely useless VP choice. Rudy would alienate social conservatives too much to even consider him. We aren't going to win NY putting him on the ticket, so what does he bring?

A more acceptable RINO is he?

Whatever your opinion may be about Rudy on social and gun issues, his pimping Kerik shows horribly bad judgement that singed Bush. Bush trusted Rudy. And Rudy shafted Bush for that trust. We shouldn’t trust Rudy either after that.

I don’t want Romney or Rooty. In fact, so far I haven’t been impressed by all of them.

All I can say it is really good Obama is so bad. Otherwise we would be toast.

People are suffering in this country, they need to know that when they replace Obama they are electing someone that has a plan, other than just getting elected. If any GOP nominee wins it will be a tough ride.Whoever wins will immediateluy get the blame for the horrible mess created by the marxist. The derision will be even worse than Bush had....so they best have a plan in mind and be ready to make people believe it. Then they will have to implement it asap.

It really is that bad. I spent my evening actually witnessing the pain people are feeling. It ain’t pretty.

#############################################

That was his biggest mistake. He should have picked a conservative as his VP.

The last time I heard the word 'demand' on FR, it was coming from Repubs who were demanding that Sarah Palin make an announcement that she will not run.

You are correct regarding the state of affairs. It's dreadful I'm glad that you realized that I wasn't attacking you.

It really is that bad. I spent my evening actually witnessing the pain people are feeling. It ain’t pretty.

Even though I don't know how your evening was, I believe you.

I thought he was a good mayor for NYC and that he served NYC at the right time: 9/11.

I never supported him for national office and I most certainly agree with you that he shafted Bush, because he had to have known about Kerik.

I’ve never been a fan of lawyer politicians, and that’s one more reason I like Sarah Palin.

“We aren’t going to win NY putting him on the ticket, so what does he bring? “

Yeah Bush Sr could presumably help bring in a big state- Texas. Rudy can’t do that.

Mitt or Rudy though would be like a reverse Dick Cheney to bring in the ‘moderates’ like Cheny, God bless him, brought in the conservatives for Bush Jr.

A conservative who wanted to win would want the country club Republicans supporting the ticket.

His wife had to get a court order to keep him from continuing to bring his bimbo into the family home.

His wife and kids found out that he was filing for divorce when they saw his press conference announcing his plan on the news.

Sewer rats have more character.

I thought he was a good mayor for NYC

And Christie is a good governor for NJ.

Doesn't mean they are good choices for national office.
