A West Point cadet is suing singer Patti LaBelle and alleging police misconduct after he was beaten up by her security guards in an incident at the Houston International Airport partially captured on videotape.
An attorney for Richard King, 23, says he was on the phone with his brother waiting to be picked at Bush International Airport in the March 11 incident when he was viciously attacked by LaBelles bodyguards, while he unknowingly stood next to the stars luggage and limo. Kings lawyer, John Raley, has released a surveillance video of the incident.
King is shoved, and then punched. A third attacker, a woman, joined in, driving him back 12 to 15 feet, driving his head into a concrete pillar, causing a serious concussion and bleeding from the nose and mouth, Raley told FoxNews.com. He was then taunted and kicked.
Police arrived on scene shortly after. For reasons known only to them, they took statements only from attackers and a taxi dispatcher who, as you can see in the video, is clearly a Patti LaBelle fan, he added.
Raley is referencing a moment in the video which appears to show an officer posing for a picture with LaBelle after writing down her statement following the altercation.
Houston police officials have said the incident is under investigation.

I saw video when it came out and for the life of me i cannot understand why these 2 “bodygaurds” and the Fat bitch are not in JAIL
I saw it the other day also and agree. It looks to me that the officers are going to be in a world of hurt for kissing this off.
Political correctness, guaranteed. The cadet was the wrong color.
From what I saw ... the guy’s college is paid for with new car, house and full bank account.
Down on the Animal Farm some animals are more equal than others! OINK!
I completely agree and believe his attorney does also.
Check yesterday’s threads on this incident. West Point made a public statement referring to an “Honor Code violation.” Chances are that Richard King made some sort of false statement to the academy over the incident and got bounced by his peers for it. I’ll admit that this is speculation on my part but we aren’t going to get details if I’m right. Darned shame.
Incidentally, they didn’t say “Conduct Unbecoming”, which we might have expected over the alleged drinking part. If they had, the Academy would have given more details. Honor Courts typically don’t speak.
That's a good question and one I wonder about as well.
I'm not familiar with the rules at the USMA, maybe someone here can shed some light on that.
The airport security video captures the beating here, as well as showing Ms. LaBelle posing for photos with police and security officers as Cadet King was being treated by EMS. The lawsuit is seeking unspecified damages, and Cadet Kings status at West Point has changed significantly since the incident;
His attorney John Raley says his client has been suspended from West Point as a result of the IAH event and placed in a mentorship program which will require active-duty status of at least a year.
From what I saw on the tape, it appeared the Cadet was standing there BEFORE they pulled the bags up beside him - just talking on the phone. Evidently, if Patty decrees that a particular location is where she wants to park her things, everyone else is supposed to move to accommodate her. Typical “I am a celebrity so you commoners had better take notice and bow to my whims” type of behavior.
Did any one else see Patti Labelle on Dog Whisperer. She had a big mastiff that she had never even petted she was so afraid of him and said he was agressive.....Nasty looking dog, but went to a foster home after Cesar took it for rehab...Nice dog.
If you’re the right color and you have a big limo and thugs to do your bidding, I guess you can get away with just about anything. The cops should be fired. I hope this cadet gets a couple of million out of this. It’s a shame the academy didn’t stand behind one of its own. I’d really like to know the specific reasons he was dismissed.
Someone from HPD called Westpoint anonymously to report a drunk cadet. That is all it took. WestPoint is all about appearances. I have seen elsewhere that, after seeing the video, WestPoint is reviewing their actions.
Thanks much for the info, suspected it could be something like that. Very glad to hear West Point is reviewing their actions.
So really could be....Bush's fault
