Illinois probing Catholic groups for adoption discrimination

(Reuters) - The state of Illinois is looking into allegations that several Catholic groups providing adoption services for the state illegally discriminate against unmarried and gay couples, a lawsuit filed on Tuesday showed.

In a March 8 letter to the charitable arm of the Diocese of Springfield, the Illinois attorney general's office said it was investigating reports the group "discriminates against Illinois citizens based on race, marital status and sexual orientation in its provision of foster care services."

The letter, which was included as an exhibit in a lawsuit filed by the charitable arms of the dioceses of Springfield, Peoria and Joliet, warned that such policies violated the Illinois Human Rights Act, a statute that bars discrimination, harassment or retaliation based on marital status or sexual orientation, among other things...

The Catholic groups argue they are exempt from some provisions of the law because it interferes with the practice of their religion. The Catholic church opposes same sex marriage and civil unions...

Madigan's office said it was disappointed by the lawsuit.

"Unfortunately, instead of working with the state to ensure compliance with child protection and civil rights laws, the dioceses have opted to go to court," said Natalie Bauer, a spokeswoman for Madigan.

"It's the role of the Attorney General's office to ensure that all organizations in the state follow the law, including the civil rights laws. Organizations that receive taxpayer funding to provide public services must comply with the law."

Oh spare everyone the showy crocodile tears, Bauer. You’re itching for this battle.

The Church has been around for nearly 2000 years. The Left will fail miserably.

No, they will probably shut down another adoption service.

Devout Catholic (and evangelical) groups will go private. The state “services” will become a byword for mush mentality disaster.

I can think of nothing more disgusting and dangerous than allowing queers, perverts and freaks to adopt innocent children.

The Catholic Church has been sucking the Government tit for years. Now they have to pay the piper.

That still may not protect them from state sanctioned gay wrath.

It figures that the crowd that was once complaining about people nosing into their bedrooms now wants to nose into everyone else’s house.

Pretty much. The Catholic Church is more than happy to take Government money, then they whine when the strings that are attached to it get jerked.

Here's the solution. Don't take the f****** money in the first place. Then you won't have to worry about Lisa Madigan.

Oh, and FU, too.

Nothing but love,

L

And finally! THIS is what it is all about.

They want everyone to change their own personal definition of marriage to match theirs - so that they can proceed with this next tactic.

They pretend it is about “live and let live” - until they get to introduce their definition into classrooms which will conflict with what the kids are being taught at home.

Catholic adoption agency? really? They’re going to shut them all down.

They’ll start suing the churches that don’t perform same sex ceremonies.

This encroachment on the freedom of religion is sickening....to demand that a religious institution can not set their own moral standards??????? What Bullsh*t! They can push unnatural situations????? for children????? which deny them their Natural Rights—inalienable rights under OUR Constitution to be able to have as close as possible a life which would be a replica of the one that God designed????

Do they not read our Founding documents and know that our RIGHTS come from GOD—they are inalienable.....and the design God made is Man and Wife. What do they not understand? Ignorant fools trying to eliminate God and design man into their ugly vision and condition children into believing unnatural is natural by placing them in unnatural lifestyles.

Get back to the Constitution, Illinois! Inalienable rights come from GOD-—he has standards and they are the basis of OUR laws whether YOU like it or not.

We don’t want Marx’s standard—he hated the natural family because it created self reliant, responsible people who couldn’t be brainwashed and enslaved.

So what about forcing Catholic hospitals to perform abortions that might, in one way or another, have a public funded revenue stream?

Is it difficult straddling the fence that divides the Church and the gays?

That’s right, L, nothing but love.

This is another sign of the looming overt persecution of traditional, believing Christians. The population has been “softened” up by the relentless ridicule and disparagement of Christians in film, TV, schools and a popular culture largely defined and presented by a small but powerful non-Christian minority. Abortion and sexual deviancy are two of the tools the anti-Christians are using. There is an attempt to compel Christian institutions, doctors and other medical personnel to participate in the unjust killing of innocent unborn children. There is/will be an attempt to compel Christians to accept homosexuality as “equal” to normal, natural wholesome sexual behavior. The anti-Christian bigotry is centered in the Democratic Party, now controlled by non and anti-Christians.The likes of Chuck Schumer and Diane Feinstein are on record as saying that believing, orthodox Christians are ineligible for the federal bench. Be watchful. But be not afraid.

Amen! This country has fallen off a cliff. I never would have imagined this would be considered acceptable. Those poor children.

While the state would undoubtedly object to the Church burning Lisa Madigan at the stake for attempting to deliver innocent children (those who survive the threat of abortion to be born) to predatory perverts, that does not mean that Francis Cardinal George cannot, as her diocesan ordinary, excommunicate her publicly. The pride of a Demonrat supporter of perversion as public policy will guarantee that she will never return by repentance. Let’s get this party started.

Perhaps not but Jesus Christ will. We know how this fight turns out in the long run. It’s in all the bibles. We win.

We need to persecute them back. Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan is a counterfeit “Catholic” who needs to be excommunicated publicly and splashily and memorably.

In New York this question was settled years ago. The Catholic Church got out of the orphan/adoption business.
