Sen. Chuck Schumer refused to answer questions Monday evening about the Twitter scandal that has ensnared Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-N.Y.), his one-time congressional aide.
But in a statement, the powerful Democratic senator said he was "deeply pained and saddened" about the married congressman's admission at a New York news conference Monday that he carried on lewd online conversations with at least half a dozen women.
"By fully explaining himself, apologizing to all he hurt and taking full responsibility for his wrongful actions, Anthony did the right thing," Schumer said. "He remains a talented and committed public servant, and I pray he and his family can get through these difficult times.”

The only thing that "deeply pained and saddened" Schumer was Weiner got more face time on camera than Schumer.

Weiner is nothing more than a lame caricature of his former boss, perpetually outraged by anything and everything but without the (dare I say?) 'maturity' of Chuck Schumer.
Even Schumer in his early salad days as Congressman wouldn't let something like this fester for more than a day before quelling it.

Weiner is evil. Not just because he’s a sex pervert, his leftist affiliations, beliefs and votes condemn him.
Chuckie is just upset Weiner didn’t send the pics to him.
I’m amazed that no one seems to realize one of the worst aspects of Weiner’s perverted prowess is the risk of political blackmail by his “victims.” Aside from the moral aspects, no political servant should place him or herself in a positionn to endanger this nation via blackmai because of their actions.

I think that was one of the most under-reported stories of the BJ Clinton-Monica thing; I believe the Russians were aware of the relationship, causing him to be completely compromised. He showed them, though, that the US no longer finds any kind of behavior unacceptable, by hanging in there without a popular call for his outright resignation.
I wonder if there is a quote out there from Chuckie about Chris Lee?
