You may have missed it but Huffpo is rarely cited here ~ or anywhere else ~ anymore.

The whole thing went belly-up, faced left, and now is little more than the shell of an email address.

Frankly, I never bothered reading Huffpo ~ it was, to my way of thinking, quite boring.

Agreed. While I don’t believe he lost 8 billion, the Time Warner - AOL deal was one of the worst corporate deals of all time.

The Case family from AOL made out like bandits and wisely invested a lot of their deal payout into large parcels of land and developments on the Hawaiian Islands.

Lordy, this could have come out an updated version of Atlas Shrugged.

Turner and his crew imagined that their earlier merger with Time Inc. was meaningful and potentially profitable.

Anyone could tell you that when a magazine conglomerate like Time Inc. had lost most of its advertising in their mainline journals, and now had one popular gossip rag targeting teenage girls that was thick as a phonebook (SEE: People), something was wrong ~ and it was a lot more than $8 billion that would shortly be lost.

Not that the age of print was dead then ~ but it was coming.

AOL employees were furious with the Huffing Puffing bailout, and that’s what it was. There’s no content there worth $315 let alone $315M. They can’t believe that while they’re selling buildings and cutting staff, this political kickback is going on. Tremendous, tremendous corruption, just like every other Democratic Party business endeavor.

Old fogey that I am, I started out on AOL and have not been able to wean myself from it. I am comfortable using it for e-mail and favorites, and I can’t figure out how to have my e-mail address book handy when I am on other sites. So, I use AOL for that stuff, and try to avoid looking at their so-called news.

I still use AOL myself. I started using it for business many years ago and there are thousands of people that have my AOL email address. It would be too much trouble to change-over now and risk losing a potential client.

Almost any time you would do a Google search (especially for news), the HuffPo articles would always rank right up at the top, but the search algorithm was probably manipulated by google to give preference to liberal websites. I suppose that made their “branding” look like it was worth a lot more than it actually was.

How much worse will it be if NOBODY can reach you because everyone thinks you’re still @aol.com and they’ve folded?
