Allies occasionally have differences, Grenada was a member of the Commonwealth, so you could see that it put Thatcher in a precarious position politically, seems that they worked through it in the end, that’s the way it goes . Hardly a “stab in the back.”

I suspect there is something else behind your derision of Thatcher.

We, reluctantly .... backed her bloody defense of 19th Century Imperialism. But, she dumped all over Reagan for the totally just Grenada rescue.

"...we alienated our allies for her stupid, bloody, dog & pony show in the Malvinas."

They are called "The Falklands" for starters, and we put her under great pressure to give in to the Fascist Argentinians - but she held firm - for Britain. Good for her not wanting to be an American lap dog.
There - go ahead and puke your guts out.........

Check this out. Thatcher will be at several public events this summer, including an unveiling of a statue of Reagan on the 4th of July:

Yet, we alienated our allies for her stupid, bloody, dog & pony show in the Malvinas. If the Argentines were commies, she'd have gladly stepped aside.

And thank god for Pinochet who aided Britain in her time of need.

One would hope the sarcasm tag isn't needed here

"A stopover in Poland for Lech Walessa (SP?) and the circle is complete."

Not quite. A visit to Rome, and the grave of John Paul II, and THEN "the circle will be complete". Walesa couldn't have happened without the pressures applied by Karol Wojytla as a bishop in Poland, and then as Pope JPII.

If you "really" want to see the media have apoplexy, the above would do it.

Bobby Sands is still dead.

Naw. I'm a drunken Irishman, but that's not the issue.

It really bugged me that she'd kill thousands over that stupid thing in the South Atlantic / condemn the USA for saving Grenada / then happily give Hong Kong to the Chinese.

Happily, Hong Kong wound up in a better place. Never thought I'd say that ...

Yeah, the Islamofascists of Iran renamed Winston Churchill Boulevard in Tehran “Bobby Sands Street” --nice little IRA terrorist HE was—apparently he was too stupid to eat.
