With all the historic gerrymandering and pandering to various groups in drawing district lines, who could blame them?

Justice Department officials say their decisions will be made based on the law and facts, not politics.

Right. /s

It seems that the elections are already decided with these laws.

Texas and its gerrymandered districts will be tested imo.

The Voting Rights Act is Reconstruction II, another occupation, this time political.

If the black representatives were not ignoring their whitey constituents this would not be an issue.

Removing white voters from what is apparently a gerrymandered district designed to elect a black politician affects the district, how?

The dirty little secret now is that President Obama has done something no one ever thought possible - he has unified the white vote (against the Democrats).

It really doesn’t matter how they attempt to spread blacks out, particularly in those Southern States, as the white vote will overwhelm their votes in any case.

It took decades - but whites (in large part) FINALLY see just who the Democrats are and what they stand for.

Others said the community is diversifying, that it will probably become majority black eventually...

I hate things like this. When it's a white majority district by demographic happenstance it's illegal, immoral and fattening. When it's remapped to being a black majority district it's a fist-in-the-air victory for diversity and the downtrodden.

White districts elect all manner of people to represent them: white, black, hispanic, asian, men, women, gays and somehow whites are seen as racists, bigots and homophobes.

The motivation here it to produce a Democrat ghetto, another modern perpetual plantation from which to siphon votes and dollars which will see no return for the voter's loyalty.

Just repeal the unconstitutional act, The Feds should not be in the business of making laws regarding their own election.

There an no equal standing when Some States are made to follow laws not applied to other States. Much less Laws no where authorized in the Federal Constitution.

This Orwellian “Voting Rights act” is an abomination in almost every respect.

I actually understand the concerns of theses Louisianian voters. A republican in a democratic dominated district has little in the way of honest representation. That is to say nothing of the even more reduced representation of white voters in a district dominated by all but openly racist black democrats. Democrats that have convinced themselves that they are justified in “punishing” whites to “uplift” themselves.

The Fed can only complain about the lines, they can not draw them.
