Oh dear..I have to get this off my chest. I just spent 4 HOURS at the most interminable “talent show”. I had to attend because one of my students was a participant, and I always support my students in their endeavors. I KNEW it was going to be lame, because it was sponsored by a new-age “healing” center, but nothing could have prepared me for this evening. First, I was introduced to the vocal coach, who had actually performed on Broadway, so I thought...ok, maybe it will be OK. Then I got ousted from my seat by some broad who claimed she had saved it for a member of her family. Then I was subjected to a propaganda video about their guru. THEN, finally the show began. Every act was preceded by a video explaining one of the “chakras” and then a child came out and sang or danced an interpretation of both the negative and positive aspects of each “chakra”. They did everything with recorded background music, and it was all dreary negative pop like Evanescence, Michael Jackson, and other “alternative grunge”. The dancers were all good, but hackneyed, break dancing, busting a move, which is very passe. And EVERY ONE of the singers were FLAT! Even MY student! My only explanation for that was that they couldn’t hear the accompaniment. To top things off, some idiots with a toddler were sitting right behind me and the baby was screaming the whole time. Not crying, just screeching for no reason. The parents were so blissed out in their chakras that the thought never occurred to them to take the child outside. And then there were the technical problems. The lighting and effects were being projected by a computer, and in between acts kept reverting to the control screen.

My own recitals have TWICE AS MANY children, take half the time including a snack intermission, no tech problems, and no pauses between acts. I have twice as much equipment on stage, MC the entire thing, accompany the vocalists live, and play the base and sing with the guitar players.AND I don’t have anything that is not age-appropriate. I really hate it when children sing songs with overtly sexual lyrics, and some of the dance moves from those sweet little kids were obscene.

It was musician-hell.

I have been to hundreds of amateur performances over the years, and many recitals as well. This was the worst thing I have ever sat through. I don’t blame the kids. They worked so hard, and some of them are quite talented. It was the stupid cabal of new age moonbats that exploited these lovely children to further their own agenda.
Thank you for letting me vent. I hope I don’t come across as unkind.
Love
ML

GREAT rant - and I would have felt the same way - especially about the inappropriate music and dance moves.

Aw, sheesh, ML, tell us what you really think, ok?!?!?

I have to agree with your point, though.
Moonbats really haven’t a clue, have they?

This experience should give you confidence and a “well done, my faithful servant” from the Lord. Think of it that way.

Sure sounds like you had fun today..... /heavy sarc

Libs seem to have a thing for exploiting children and teaching them all sorts of garbage. I can't help but think that God is gonna be really upset over a lot of the trash they teach. Didn't Jesus say that whoever teaches little ones to sin, it would be better if a millstone were tied around their neck and they be cast into the sea?

Thank you for letting me vent.

It was a good rant. *hugs*

Love you FRiend!

Oh my goodness, ML....how awful you had to put up with so many disrespectful people and so much lack of prepardness for the “talent show”. It seems it would take so little to make things right. (((HUGS)))
