I was as guilty of it as anyone. Before Herman Cain’s rise as a player in the 2012 GOP primary, the easiest shorthand was to describe him simply as the “ex-Godfather’s Pizza CEO.” This, of course, was overly simplistic.
The truth is that Cain experience is much more vast than simply running Godfathers. He has a Master’s degree in computer science, was a mathematician for the Department of Navy, served as chairman of the Board of Directors of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City and has been a popular talk show host.
And after Cain’s success at Godfather’s (he lead the company back to profitability when it was on the verge of bankruptcy), Cain became the first restaurateur to serve as the full-time president and CEO of the National Restaurant Association. That is where he famously and publicly took on then-President Bill Clinton over “HillaryCare” — and that is where he honed his skills of persuasion — which he believes could make him an effective president.
To fully appreciate Cain’s experience, it’s important to realize just how big this organization is. The restaurant industry currently employs almost 13 million people in 960,000 locations. Of those, the NRA represents 380,000 businesses. The organization has also become somewhat of a political powerhouse, due, in large part, to Cain’s efforts.
But as head of the group, Cain couldn’t act unilaterally. To enact changes, he had to persuade a board of directors, as well as gain the support of industry leaders. (As head of the NRA, Cain couldn’t just tell association members like McDonalds what to do — he had to get them to buy in.) “How big is the job? It’s probably as busy as being the mayor of the city of New York,” says Joe Fassler, a former NRA Chairman of the board of directors, and the man who recruited Cain for the job.
One of Cain’s first challenges as NRA President and CEO (he had previously served as chairman of the board, but a new title was created to empower Cain to run the day-to-day operations) was to convince board members to take the technological leap and upgrade their manually maintained membership files to a searchable electronic database. This was vital. “You don’t always have to be on the cutting edge of technology, but you have to be on the blade,” Cain told me.
Although some board members were hesitant to support these changes (which would require spending significant amounts of money), Cain recognized the importance of persistence and persuasion and refused to give up. “The board looked at me like I was Superman without the cape,” Cain said, describing what it was like to tell them they would need to spend millions of dollars to improve their effectiveness. “Some Association executives just tell the board what they want to hear,” he explained, “but I wasn’t afraid to tell them what they needed to hear.”

While Cain is currently my front-runner choice, he's not perfect. His statement of faith is overly simplistic, and the one for his church leaves the reader hard-pressed to find out what the church actually believes.
Add to that FRB Kansas City tended to be quite conservative when Herman Cain was there. And Herman Cain was one of the most conservative board members.

The wife and I are currently supporting HC. Having been a listener to his show and filling in for Boortz, he has impressed us from the beginning and always thought, why can’t we have a president who thinks like this?
Well, here’s your chance!
Another strong point is, he is not a career politician! I believe a lot of people are tired of politicians and are wanting to give another direction a try.
Unless anything crops up negative about him, simply working for the Federal Reserve doesn’t count, we will continue to support him.
If he doesn’t get the nomination, then we’ll go from there whoever it might be. Still a long trip ahead.
Funny how the media seems to be ignoring him and wants to push established politicians as usual.
I think the best ticket, at this point in time is a Cain/Palin ticket.

You bet only Roach Paul is the only one who is fit to enlighten us on how he is the only politician who is morally consevative enough to lead.
Of course he is not perfect, no one thinks so, and he is very upfront with the fact that he is not!
As for the article you post - in that article, Herman Cain didn’t say that was his statement of faith, the author did. He could have said it’s his life verse for all you know.
I’m pretty surprised anyone would actually call a Bible verse simplistic anyway.
Herman Cain says he believes in Jesus Christ, and is quite outspoken about that and his belief that God had more work for him whichc is why he didn’t die of cancer. His life shows fruits of the Spirit. Only God knows his heart, so I am going by what I see and hear and nothing contradicts his confession of faith.

His church is largely democrat, this is no secret, it’s a large black church in Atlanta. Their doctrine may not even be sound, but it is NOT a black liberation theology church. Their pastor is old, back from the civil rights days. My husband reminds me of the fact that blacks were not allowed to go to the main seminaries back when this man was training. So, who knows? I do know that Herman Cain has said nothing about Spiritual matters, or the Bible or his faith that raises red flags with me. The basic tenets are sound.
And he got that gig through a political demand on the University. I read somewhere that the school thought he was unqualified for the position, but they were forced to take him under "Chicago politics".
Then you are a lost cause and most probably a Paultard.
hell, "ANY Pizza Guy" form the middle of nowhere USA is smarter than the mutt we have in the WH now as he isn't smart enough to understand the business model of a lemonade stand... Cain will take that fool apart in any debate, anytime, anywhere.
I wonder if he used a teleprompter or just read notes someone wrote for him. Or maybe it was one of those part time deals where the part he worked was always some other time.

I like Mr. Cain and unfortunatly Sarah seems to be more interested in avoiding the press (Which she can’t do forever)and drive around in a bus trying to keep everyone in suspense as to what she will do next.
