A federal judge has ordered a Texas school district to prohibit public prayer at a high school graduation ceremony.
Chief U.S. District Judge Fred Bierys order against the Medina Valley Independent School District also forbids students from using specific religious words including prayer and amen.
The ruling was in response to a lawsuit filed by Christa and Danny Schultz. Their son is among those scheduled to participate in Saturdays graduation ceremony. The judge declared that the Schultz family and their son would suffer irreparable harm if anyone prayed at the ceremony.
Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott said the school district is in the process of appealing the ruling, and his office has agreed to file a brief in their support.

Except when we can't, which you are advocating.
We are not bound to worship the religion supported by the majority of people in the area we live in.
Nor are we bound to worship (or not) the religion supported by the minority of the people in the area in which we live, which is EXACTLY what is happening here in this situation by this lawsuit.
You’re a troll.....
I know enough about Texas that Whataburger sucks as bad as McDonalds, Burger King, and Wendy’s now! :D
There seem to be quite a few ‘conservatives’ on FR lately spouting some very unconstitutional ideas. Went to over 1000 posts on one thread a while back. And to think that ODrama hired people just last week to push his ideas on websites...surely that’s a coinki-dink...
Why should any citizen of any religion or non-religion be forced, literally by threat of armed police action, to support and establish government godlessness. How can that be religiously NEUTRAL??? Huh?
Answer: Government established godless indoctrination is not and never has been religiously neutral.
I don’t eat fast food anymore, so I couldn’t say. It USED to be the best burgers around, and in my mind still is. Until the day comes that I start eating fast food again, I’ll have to hold onto that memory.
In and Out went to pot as well. Used to be great, now tastes like mini-mart soyburger specials.
I still eat them every time I go back home because of the "memory", but they have become mediocre just like the rest now.
>> If you want your children to be in a Christian school, enroll them in a Christian, but don’t make everyone who lives near you to also be a Christian.
The govt makes that impossible — therefore, the prayer is justified for that alone. Deal with it, equivocator.
What a crock. That is a gross misinterpretation of that verse.
Your stealth, or not so stealth, pushing of the atheistic, anti-Christian agenda is pretty transparent. You can try to couch it and hide it and hide it in any manner you choose, but plenty of us have seen it enough here and you're not fooling anyone.
Why don't you go back to DU where you belong, troll?
It’d be a minimum of a two day drive for me.
Otherwise, I’d plan on meeting you.
Clinton appointee.
How much more of this will we put up with? When will we say “enough”? I hope those in attendance all say The Lord’s Prayer. Will the cops arrest the all? What has happened to America? How can we expect God’s blessings when we let the atheists take over? I am furious. David prayed for the death of his enemies...just sayin’.
Right. So when Yashua gave us the Lord’s Prayer He did it in secret.
If anyone around the way wanted to carpool, it could be done. Splitting cost would be a way to enable us. Except for those more than a day or so away, of course.
But if any DFWers see this and want to make the trip, we can split cost. I’ll drive if you help pay for gas. I want to be there to see the fallout.
What denomination chuch do you attend?
Is the graduation this weekend?
I couldn’t possibly physically make it driving anyway. Not enough hours left even speeding....
That said, I will be praying for the situation and if you get out or know anyone who does, please, keep us posted.
It is on Saturday. And I will leave tomorrow evening if I can find people to go with me. Even 1 would help. If not... heck... I might go alone anyway. And I’ll probably say a prayer or two while I’m there.
I just need to check the budget, and make sure my wife doesn’t have plans I don’t know about.
LOL! So your contribution here is to show - trolls can post Scripture and then prove they don’t understand It. We already knew that - now move along - this is a GOD, Family, Country site.
In the United States Constitution under Article IV it states:
The Senators and Representatives before mentioned, and the Members of the several State Legislatures, and all executive and judicial Officers, both of the United States and the several States, shall be bound by Oath or Affirmation, to support this Constitution...”
Just ask the Police Chief to say that he has taken an oath to support the Constitution, including the First Amendment (”Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof...” ) and he is not sure that the judge is right about his view of the Constitution.
The Police Chief then announces that while the lawsuit slowly wends through the courts, no one is getting arrested today.
