Sarah Palin pulling out the stops (GOP miffed on Mitt’s big day)
Boston Herald ^ | June 2, 1011 | Hillary Chabot

GOP megastar Sarah Palin’s bus tour rumbled toward the Hub last night, driving into a Republican Party furor as her headline-grabbing East Coast trip threatened to overshadow today’s presidential announcement by party front-runner Mitt Romney.

“She will certainly be in New Hampshire to rain on Mitt’s parade,” wrote Massachusetts GOP spokesman Tim Buckley in an e-mail obtained by the Herald. Bay State GOP officials confirmed yesterday that Buckley wrote the e-mail, but said it was a private exchange and not an official communication.

“I guess she blew in with the storm,” sniffed state House minority leader Bradley H. Jones (R-North Reading) yesterday, a longtime Romney supporter. “She may generate a lot of attention, but given the choice between seeing Sarah Palin and Mitt Romney, I’d much rather see Romney.”

[snip]

“It is becoming more and more clear to people that this is about Sarah and her brand and not a presidential campaign,” said one Romney consultant, who added, “She’s not making any friends within the political communities. If you cared about things like delegates and primaries, I think you’d be a little more attentive.”

Still, the rogue road trip put Palin back in the national spotlight, said Steve Duprey, a national Republican committeeman in New Hampshire whose wife volunteers for Romney but who said he is neutral in the race.

“Simply by putting her family in a bus and touring around the country she’s generating more media attention than most candidates,” Duprey said. “All the discussions before were about other candidates. She’s changed the conversation just by getting on a bus.”

Meanwhile, Romney kept a relatively low profile yesterday, quietly tweeting last night: “Big day tomorrow. Join my @livestream event as I announce my candidacy for President in New Hampshire.”

The Palin Paradox.

If Romney really was the "clear front runner" and Palin really was "just an entertainer" it wouldn't matter a hill of beans what she did on Mittster's special day.

Romney attacking Gov. Palin ---- for Obama in 2008

Late in October, The American Spectator's The Prowler revealed:
"Former Mitt Romney presidential campaign staffers…
have been involved in spreading anti-Palin spin to reporters, seeking to diminish her standing after the election.
'Sarah Palin is a lightweight, she won't be the first, not even the third, person people will think of when it comes to 2012,'
says one former Romney aide…
'The only serious candidate ready to challenge to lead the Republican Party is Mitt Romney.
"Some former Romney aides were behind the recent leaks to media, including CNN, that Governor Sarah Palin was a 'diva' and was going off message intentionally."

The Palmetto Scoop reported: "One of the first stories to hit the national airwaves was
the claim of a major internal strife between close McCain aides and the folks handling his running mate Sarah Palin."
"I’m told by very good sources that this was indeed the case and that a rift had developed, but it was between Palin’s people and the staffers brought on from the failed presidential campaign of former Gov. Mitt Romney, not McCain aides."
"The sources said nearly 80 percent of Romney’s former staff was absorbed by McCain and these individuals were responsible for what amounts to a premeditated, last-minute sabotage of Palin."
… aides loyal to Romney inside the McCain campaign, said The Scoop, reportedly saw
that Palin would be a serious contender for the Republican nomination in 2012 or 2016, which made her a threat to another presidential quest by Romney.

"These staffers are now out trying to finish her off ….hoping it would ingratiate themselves with Mitt Romney."

"Who's the Palin Leaker from the McCain Campaign?
National Review Online The publication of a Vanity Fair profile of Sarah Palin
appears to have opened old wounds in the McCain campaign.
... the source of the “Diva” leak was Nicolle Wallace’s husband."

The way Team Romney eviscerated her in 2008, I’m glad she’s giving him some payback. He deserves this and soooooo much more.

Run for Pope instead of President.

Why be Pope when he's shooting for god of his own planet?

Precisely, but Willard Romney is only the front runner in polls.

He’s just the same old washed-up Romney he was in ‘08.

What it shows is, someone that holds more political capital in her little finger than any other known candidate republican or democrat.

She hasn’t even begun to take that velvet bat out and start breaking heads.... In the mean time she gets stronger and more powerful.

Name anyone that has gained so much by that decision. 2 book deals, a Documentary deal, campaigning for mid terms, fox news deal, Speaking fees deal, ability to travel etc.... Yeah pretty much brilliant move. That is what I love about her. The press keeps scowling and she keeps taking ground. Love it.

....With Palin in it there really is no competition with Bachman.

It would seem so. I wonder if Mitt Romney thinks about a Romney-Bachmann ticket.

I see Palin matching up with another governor: Walker, Scott or Perry.

We need to distinguish our party from the Obama administration. To be VERY clear.

Maybe he should try for something easier. Run for Pope instead of President.

Romney would see nothing but black smoke coming out of the chimney.

You’ve been following events!

About a month back, I saw a clip of Mitt out of character, he was emoting, (trying to be “pumped up”) as I believe he sees this energy works for Sarah Palin and he wanted to emulate her communication skills. It reminded me of Al Gore giving the color brown a whirl because someone said it might help him get votes. Very phony — lacking in leadership and the telltale signs of a loser.
