Rep. Jason Chaffetz, R-Utah, is apparently telling associates he will run against Sen. Orrin Hatch in 2012
The Salt Lake Tribune reported Wednesday in an above-the-fold A1 story that "five Utah politicos, speaking on condition of anonymity, said Chaffetz has told them directly in recent weeks that he will contend for the Republican (senate) nomination."
The story is attracting national attention, including pieces from Politico, MSNBC.com, UPI, and National Journal.

He was an awesome congressman and a terrific senator his first term. I haven't voted for him since 1992, although I did reluctantly go with him for prez.
>> The entire old guard needs to go.
A truly pathetic lot.

2. ?
3. Profit
Yes indeed!
Obama is a scumbag but the birther “two citizen parents” rule is only believed by a few hysterical fringies. It also runs contrary to both precedent (Chester Arthur) and SC rulings (Kim Wok).
Chaffetz has the fire in the belly which Orin Hatch once had. Hatch is a nice gentleman, but he’s been in Washington too long. The only senator I ever saw who got better with age in my lifetime was Jesse Helms.
Based on his words and actions over the last few years, I conclude that it is time for Roarin’ Orrin to leave politics and write lousy country music for Imus!
