The Democrats' Big Government Breakout
American Spectator ^ | 6.1.11 | Peter Ferrara

Posted on 06/01/2011 5:36:36 PM PDT by neverdem

Historic battle lines are being drawn in the budget battle in Washington that too few understand. The Democrats are supporting an unprecedented breakout of Big Government taxes and spending. The Republicans are trying to draw the line at the stable level of federal taxes and spending relative to the economy that has prevailed throughout the postwar era up until now, and provided the foundation for the dominating postwar American prosperity.

At stake is whether the prosperity of the American Dream that has drawn millions to these shores over the years will endure. Or whether America will settle into permanent decline, a fading shadow of its former self. Is that the future you want to raise your family in? Is that the legacy you want to leave your children or grandchildren?

President Obama's Bankruptcy Budget Proposals

Under President Obama's own budget projections released in February, by next year the national debt will have doubled in only 4 years since 2008. By 2021 it will have more...

-snip--

In return for their vague rhetoric and secret budget plan, the Democrats demand their so-called "clean" increase in the debt limit, and Republican agreement to increased taxes. That tax increase strategy fails to recognize that sweeping, across the board tax increases are already scheduled for 2013 under current law. That is when the Obamacare tax increases go into effect, and the Bush tax cuts expire, which President Obama insists he will not renew for the nation's small businesses, job creators, and investors.

They would see their income tax rates jump by nearly 20%, the capital gains tax rate increase by nearly 60%, the total tax rate on corporate dividends increase by nearly three times, their Medicare payroll tax rate increase by 62%, and the death tax rise from the grave with a 55% rate...

ECONOMIC ‘HORROR’ AS DATA PLUNGES
The numbers do not lie, where the Media might.

This is all on purpose to finish the robbery of Americans.

If Republicans in Congress do not stand up tonight, the GOP is finished. Tea Party begins at Dawn....It may be our only hope.

The Left, including big-government Republicans, are licking their chops. They know that, at the ballot box, it's nearly impossible to beat "Vote for me, and I'll give you Free Stuff" with "Vote for me, and I'll tell you we can't do this any more." So I'm afraid "We can't do this any more" will be shoved down our throats by the math.

Now I hear Palin is headed to Iowa after declaring that she's against ethanol subsidies. That should be interesting. Let's see how Iowans greet her.

The Democrats would rather rule over a dump than play second fiddle in a prosperous country.

In a government-controlled economy it’s the political class who has all the power and perks. The miserable masses live courtesy of government favor and the political class tell themselves how wonderful and generous they are to provide for the miserable masses, who are taught to worship the political class like royalty of old.

This is the sort of crap that makes me want to literally slap my Democrat friends. This will sound silly to some, but I am particularly disappointed with my friend Dave back in Fort Wayne after he “Liked” the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee on Facebook. Yes, it sounds trivial. But Dave was always reasonable sensible. But why in the f*&k would any sane, patriotic American want to give the Senate back to a bunch of dipsh*ts who won’t even try to pass a budget?????

It’s really pretty simple. Don’t increase the debt limit, that’s an immediate $1.6 trillion cut in spending. Let see how serious Republicans really are.

And in response the Democrats will simply stop sending SS checks to seniors for a week (or to our soldiers) saying its all because the Republicans want them to starve by not raising the debt ceiling...

They know how to pay that game, they’ve been playing it for decades.

A worrisome thought about the Debt Limit negotiations.

As background, recall how the doctrin of Mutually Assured Destruction worked during the Cold War. It maintained a balance because neither side was crazy enough to destroy itself in the process of destroying the other.

We have since discovered that MAD doesn't work with Islamofascist terrorists. They're crazy enough to welcome death -- and are thus immune from the MAD doctrine.

Are we now at a point where MAD won't work when it is applied to partisan issues in Washington. Heretofore, one side could always be confident that the other wouldn't take down the country. That, in the end, there would be agreement on what was best for the country.

Now, however, the GOP House faces a Presidential adversary who seems committed to destroying the country. Unnecessary as it might be, there is reason to believe that Obama would instruct Geithner to default on the debt. If that threw the world credit markets into a tizzy and destroyed America's credit and economy, isn't that what he's been seeking to do all along?

Some might contend Obama wouldn't do that, as it would also destroy his chances for a second term. But did he not say that he would prefer to be "a successful one-term president" rather than "a mediocre two-term president"? It's wise to take tyrants at their word. And does Obama not measure "success" by how far he can shove the country into the toilet?

Personally, I find it plausible that Obama is capable of taking any opportunity to drive a stake into the heart of America. And he might well view the Debt Limit issue as such an opportunity.

Yes, there is some delicious "conspiracy theory" elements to this concern. But I wonder if such a circumstance might be on Boehner's, Cantor's and Ryan's minds...
