Arizona will no longer recognize photo-ID cards issued by foreign consulates beginning July 20. The state legislature passed the bill as part of a package of illegal-immigration measures.
Although some failed to win support, the photo-ID card bill did pass and is about to become law.
The ID cards up till now have been the sole form of photo identification for individuals living in another country who do not have a passport or a local drivers license.
The Arizona Republic reports state lawmakers who pushed for the change say the consulate-issued cards are too easy to obtain fraudulently and give the inaccurate impression that all cardholders are in the country legally.
Immigrant advocates say the new law will leave some immigrants without a form of identification.
Other visitors should be prepared with a visa and other identification.
Go back home. Problem solved.
An alien here legally would, at minimum, have to have had a passport to legally enter, now wouldn't he?
The next step is to fine businesses $2,000 per day, per illegal alien hired without having this new card. Private hiring, say to mow your lawn, or paint the fence, or any other illegal labor done, would also be $2,000 per day per illegal.
Arizona budget will be real fine soon.
I would imagine that any state government would have to accept as valid ID a passport that is issued by a foreign government.
Gotta luv Russ Pearce
But you don’t carry them with you at all times...
What ARE issued by the Consulates are Mexican Matricula Consular's - which have all the validity of toilet paper, and are sold on the streets of L.A. by pretty much anyone, to anyone.
And the idiots in California cities gave in to Mexican government pressure to accept these jokes as "identification". As well as other cities. Including in Arizona.
But not no more...too too bad, pobrecitos.
I cannot imagine otherwise.
When I'm in a foreign country, I always have my passport on my person.
Nope. Here in Virginia the Consular cards are not recognized as valid. An ID from a US State, Military ID, or a valid passport is the only form accepted.
For the record, no Mexican banks accept as valid ID their own government's Matricula Consular card because the bearer's identity is all but untraceable.
They are generally issued to Mexican nationals who plan to enter the USA illegally so that the illegal aliens can consume US banking services.
Speaking from my part of Arizona..”We’ve had enough..seal the damn borders..do it now!” I am tired of living in a war zone. Vietnam was enough for one lifetime.
Maybe a copy. Many places where I’ve been it’s common for your passport to be held (local authorities, hotel, etc.) until you leave. I’ve never liked it, but that’s the way it is.
Actually, it was the Republican idiots in Washington D.C., specifically, the Bush Administration who pushed this change through to benefit Bush's Wall Street Banker buddies who wanted to tap into the illegal alien market. And tap into it, they did.
Banking regulations were loosened under Bush's plans, such as the Partnership for Prosperity agreement (with Mexican), New Alliance Task Force and was banks were allowed to accept the consular ID when Bush signed the USA PATRIOT Act of 2001 into law.
Once the banks had the express permission of the federal government to do business with illegal aliens, they went full tilt, by signing up, literally, tens of millions of illegal aliens for US credit cards, auto, home and business loans.
The result is the economy we're now enjoying. Remember that in 2012.

Consular cards are NOT passports. If someone has a valid passport they have no need for a consular card.

Both parties are in on the screwing of the American people; neither will take action to enforce the laws. I just received a mass mailer ad for a national pizza chain; it is bilingual, and has as much Mexican food on it as Italian (like “Habanero sauce”, “Chicken Habanero” sandwiches, and “Cinna Stix” (aka “Churros”). This is a national disgrace, and a national emergency.
You are quite right about the banking businesses accepting those Matricula Consular card. I moved my modest accounts from a bank that accepted them for ID to a bank that would not. It is not required that banks accept it.
That is a good way to determine the safety of your bank. Hard to lose money on illegal alien mortgages if they didn’t loan to them in the first place. You can Google the banks that accept the Matricula Consular card for identification or call them.
