Today, U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder said the Obama administration not only wants to lower crack sentences but also wants to make this relief retroactive, WSJ reports.
Such a move would mean reduced sentences for more than 12,000 inmates currently serving time for crack-cocaine violations, according to WSJ. Holder issued a statement on the matter at a hearing of the Sentencing Commission, which must authorize retroactive application of the more lenient sentences.

Great, I suppose this will be 12,000 more on the welfare rolls until they re-offend and get sent back. I guess it’s all a matter of which budget you want to support them out of, welfare or prisons, at least with prisons they aren’t harming innocents.

sigh... we reward criminal behavior and punish law abiding citizens. There will be consequences for such behavior. All throughout history great civilization have fallen from within. once the core starts rotting out it’s only a matter of time before the implosion takes place.

I keep having visions of Saddam Hussein unleashing the fedayeen on the Iraqi people.
Come to think of it, they opened the prison doors in Tunisia, Egypt, and Libya too.

Impeach Holder NOW!
First, Black Panthers threaten voters, union thugs beat innocent people in St. Louis, and now Holder supports turning crack felons back out on the streets.
Time for Impeachment.

I wish that the people responsible for this(the Holder Obama
crew) would suffer at the hands of these criminals they wish to reward. Only when the top suffer will they make better decisions. Unfortunately it seems for the most part that the top elites are somehow immune from the mayhem that is created by the laws they pass or ignore.

This just means that 12,000 will get dumped straight onto the street without the benefit of a validated home to release to, a job, etc., all of these things that are typically worked out when an offender is in the halfway house (typically their last 6 months in the federal system). This was done twice before with disastrous results-most were back in prison within a year in my experience...

Heck, most of these folks could go on, write a book or two and eventually move into the White House.

There is NO cure for a lot of these people.

What's silly about this is that harsher sentences were handed down for drug crimes related to crack cocaine under pressure from minority "community leaders" who claimed that governments were ignoring drug crimes in minority neighborhoods.
Now that we've seen the inevitable results of those policies (i.e., more minorities serving long prison sentences for drug-related crimes), we're faced with the exact opposite public pressure: Minority criminals are disproportionately given longer prison sentences for drug crimes!
Sometimes you just can't win.
