When we last left New York Rep. Anthony Weiner, he was retaining counsel to determine "what civil or criminal actions should be taken" against the hackers who posted a lewd image on his Twitter account. The problem seemed to be solved, and the fallout looked minimal. Then yesterday happened.
Weiner first found trouble during a bizarre late-afternoon press conference just outside the House chamber, where he stonewalled questions about whether he'd ask law enforcement to investigate the hacks and then refused to issue simple denials.

Hypothetical pie throwing or not, even sympathetic political observers trashed Weiner's performance. Salon's Steve Kornacki said it was a "totally and completely out of character" effort from the usually press savvy congressman. "This evasiveness was notable," Kornacki continued, "as was the lack of Weiner's trademark swagger. It was an uncharacteristically defensive performance that seemed to go on and on, with forced attempts at humor and awkward efforts to change the subject to ... Clarence Thomas." At the Washington Post's The Fix blog, Chris Cillizza and Aaron Blake called Weiner's conduct "odd."

"Lets talk about media cover-ups, Breitbart began. Very few people know this, but Jon Stewart and Congressman Weiner were once roommates. I feel bad for Congressman Weiner because the double entendres are keeping this story alive to a great extent as well. Will comic genius Jon Stewart cover this obviously comedic rich territory when this used to be his old roommate?
He did, and he really let him have it. "In real life, grinned Stewart, "my memory is this cat had a lot more Anthony and a lot less weiner." (Hey, it's a dirty-pun based scandal. Don't roll your eyes like that.)

Weiner’s guilty, and extremely surprised that the MSM is showing any interest. “Don’t you morons know I’m a Democrat???”
he must step down!
Certainly not the truth. . . . . . .
Weiner thinks it’s just too small of an item to discuss further.
The photo deserves a title. May I suggest.
‘A Self Portrait’
I can see how an account can be hacked but when someone takes over an account you don’t normally get it back within minutes. Since he’s a Congressman he could get it back from Twitter because of his position but for normal folks it’s gonzo. Still, unless he can show that he somehow managed to get hold of someone in authority to restore his account within minutes of the original “hack” then his story only makes sense to the computer illiterate or the mainstream media playing along with CYA.
he is sooooooooooo guilty. what a performance
Can’t we just blame this on George Bush and then move on?
The Whitewash ALWAYS makes things worse. I wonder if Huma is gonna throw him outta the house, or play the doting wife as Hillary did...?
He shook it more than twice.
Would've hoped he'd be called to account for his extreme leftist voting record, but this'll do fine.
.
if he really was hacked, didn’t he destroy evidence when he deleted the pic? just askin’
The MSM will soon start to pile on..they'll have no choice...the obvious, and unstated reason that Weiner hasn't filed a police report is that it is a crime to knoiwingly file a FALSE statement...he can't file a report..
Watch O'Reilly tonite, last night he said that he would "force" the FBI director to make a statement about this today..why isn't there an investigation..?
MSNBC would have assigned a full-time cameraman to him so he could endlessly bloviate about the Vast Right Wing Conspiracy designed to distract from the corruption on the Supreme Court.
His overblown sense of self-importance will not allow him to see how absurd his bizarre explanations look.
I heard a while ago that Weiner is to be on CNN’s Situation Room later today. And seems I heard he was supposed to be on Imus this morning. Did anyone see that?
Weiner gets bent out of shape.
I was surprised how CNN went after him in that press conference.
