Karl Rove, I respect. Krauthammer, I have a lot of respect for hes one of the thoughtful conservatives out there, Cain told The Daily Caller. My response is . . . Im not running to become president of the establishment. I am running to become president of the people of the United States of America. [Rove and Krauthammer] will eventually wake up and realize that I am a serious candidate for the nomination.

LOL, Hermanhaters never read the whole article, they just react to headlines or excerpts...
Cain's 65. Everyone knows he couldn't become a governor for 4 or 8 years, then run for president. BTW, GA just elected a new governor. The next time Cain could run for governor of GA would be 2014. If he served two terms, he'd be ready to run for President under their plan in the 2024 presidental election--when he's 78.
It's a red herring--code for "go home and shut up."
I Cain's ideas are solid, they're solid whether he's held political office or not.
Rove and Krauthammer are wrong.
vs. I respect Rove and Krauthammer, but they're wrong.
Cain is showing good rhetorical skills. It's been shown over and over again that if you just bluntly criticise someone they will simply hunker down and harden their position (even if they know their position is 100% wrong).
If you praise someone (it doesn't even have to be related to the issue at hand), then lay down the exact same criticism you have a better chance of pulling them over to your side.
I've read your stuff here; you often make great points in your posts, but the fact that you don't recognize common rhetorical skills probably says more about your shortcommings than it does about Cain's.
“Palin and Cain are politicians and can only be diminished by getting into squabbles with the media..”
Palin’s squabbles with the media or talking idiots have been subtle and discreet, except when they involved personal attacks on her family or in the example of the bullseye BS.
She puts them down without directly putting them down. Those of us that support her will take care of the dirty work. If you think she has been diminished by any of her actions, then I assume you want her to rollover and suck@$$$ like many of the other useless pols out there.
Your argument is but 1 possible explanation of why Cain said what he said.
And another is that he is simply is an establishment Republican.
I see him praising Rove and Krauthammer. I don’t feel that I have to go out of my way to try to come up with the most Cain-friendly explanation for this.
I will say that both explanations have merit as do others.
Having gone through management training at several big companies, and I can tell you this is what they teach as a communication method. It's drilled in. When you're going to criticise someone (partuclarly a subordinate), always start with a positive, then level the criticism.
WHEN Cain gets the nomination, he'll need the help of people like Rove, Krauthammer, and yes even establishment GOP members to get elected. Like it or not, that's just they way it is. It doesn't mean he should be all buddy-buddy with them, but going out of his way to make an enemy out of them isn't smart either.
Fair enough, that’s another (3rd) explanation.
Cain is a corporate (establishment) guy. That is kind of the point I’ve been trying to make here and there on threads.
There are tea party candidates who are combative toward the system and others who are not, who are more establishment / corporate.
Calling someone establishment / corporate is not the same as calling them a RINO. I haven’t looked extrememely closely at what Cain has to say, but I assume that it’s fairly standard low taxes, cut spending, limited constitutional government stuff. Not criticizing him on what he’s saying there.
I don’t want a career politician. I want someone who has had successful executive/managerial experience. I want someone who understands and honors the Constitution. I want someone who is of good character and is conservative and has American values.
Rules out most governors.
“Those of you who think you’re supporting her by taking care of “the dirty work” (presumably that involves getting mad at this guy Cain for not cursing out Rove and Krauthammer at the mention of their names) really need to calm down. You’re not helping.”
Jumping to conclusions seldom leads to happy landings. Never said I was mad at Cain, merely said I liked the way Sarah was handling her business. You were the one that tended to criticize Palin. Call Agent 99 and get smart. Bachmann and Cain are better than most of the rest of the crowd, EXCEPT for Palin of course.
“Unquestioning fealty to any politician is always a mistake and will always lead to disappointment....Could you point me to instances where I criticized her?”
Loyalty to a candidate and “unquestioned fealty” are not the same thing. Maybe you had unquestioned fealty to Ross Perot, causing your cynicism. Loyalty is not “always” a mistake and “always” lead to disappointment. Loyalty is a good thing, not a bad thing. You are pontificating kinda like the Krauthead.
Tea party members have every right to come to the defense of the candidate(s) they support including castigating those who demean or belittle them. By implying that Cain’s supposed suck@$$ with those guys was good, the inference was that Palin’s failure to do so was bad.
Palin does quite well in dealings with the media - thank you very much.
