Sarah Palin will visit the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island and have dinner with Donald Trump during a stop in New York City with her bus tour, NBC New York has learned.

Palin will meet with Trump at his personal residence tonight before they head out for a meal, a Trump aide told NBC New York. The two Republicans are friends and the meeting has "no particular agenda," according to Michael Cohen, special counsel to Trump.

Sources tell NBC New York that Palin's highly secretive Northeast tour -- thought by some to be a leadup to a presidential campaign announcement -- will head to the Statue of Liberty by private boat early Wednesday m

My grandmother died of TB when she was in her late 20’s. I’ve wondered if perhaps she hadn’t contracted the disease while on board the ship. I know they screened refugees upon arrival, but it’s possible the disease was in its first days when they were processed. Fortunately my grandfather, nor my father and his two brothers were ever diagnosed with it. I never knew my grandparents on either side as they had all died by the time I was born in ‘47. I do have a photo of my father and his family shortly after they landed. The three boys are in knickers, my grandfather is wearing a 3-piece suit, and my grandmother has a long dress on. It’s the only picture I have of my grandparents and I cherish it.

I understand. We have one picture of my (paternal) grandfather and his father together, the only time they met after my great-grandfather left his family when the three children were young. My oldest son looks like them both, those old pioneer bones.

First sites she’s stopping at that I’ve never been to. I should be ashamed, given how much time I spent in Connecticut. Seen all the Boston stuff, but not New York.

“Palin is staking out her claim to the presidency in a very original, clever and effective way. I’m not really surprised but I am delighted.”

You are astutely correct!

Gotta love it -- Trump and Sarah eating pizza on paper plates and paper cups at some NY eatery.

Palin meeting Trump? I’d like to be a fly on the wall at that conversation.

They evidently had pizza together, in public...

Meanwhile, over on DU, folks are commenting on Palin’s planned bus tour stop at the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island:

Haw, Haw, Haw. Palin’s so f’n stupid. She thinks you can get to the Statue of Liberty by bus.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled intelligent conversation on FR.
