Palin: Eliminate All Energy Subsidies
RealClearPolitics ^ | Tuesday May 31, 2011 | Scott Conroy

DILLSBURG, Pa. -- Asked Tuesday whether she supports the federal subsidy of ethanol, an always critical issue in the presidential nominating cycle, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin went one step further and called for the elimination of all energy subsidies.

"I think that all of our energy subsidies need to be relooked at today and eliminated," Palin told RCP during a quick stop at a coffee shop in this picturesque town tucked into the south-central Pennsylvania countryside. "And we need to make sure that we're investing and allowing our businesses to invest in reliable energy products right now that aren't going to necessitate subsidies because, bottom line, we can't afford it."

“She’ll certainly take heat in Iowa for this.”

Iowa can shrivel up and die as far as i’m concerned!

The property tax is in addition to Royalties, production tax and corporate income tax.

It is not in place of an extraction tax but in addition to it.

All I wanted for a candidate was for him/her to have fearless guts to speak and explain conservative principles. I despise the mealy, chicken, candidates who bow to moderates and media.

She’s it for me right now! Stay strong, Sarah!

"I think that all of our energy subsidies need to be relooked at today and eliminated," Palin told RCP

Looking at her track record in Alaska, it's clear that Sarah means what she says and that she can usually deliver. This woman is not a politician who plays games with the voters, and that's why so many people who work for a living love her and so many parasites hate her. I believe that she would put an end to all or almost all energy subsidies. There is a gray area in terms of federally funded research, and I don't think this promise automatically applies there, but otherwise I am convinced that she is sincere and would feel bound by her promise.

How do we define “subsidies”?

As I see it, both the GOP and the Dems include “tax breaks” as subsidies.

Outstanding and she’s talking like a Reagan. Good strategy and great tactic. Kill all the subsidies and goodbye fake Green Energy.

I wonder if the Governor is offended by the word “Hell.” Because my initial response to abolishing energy subsidies was, “Oh, Hell yes.” Then wipe away the EPA.

Government, sit down and shut up. Private industry, drill here; drill now. Build refineries. Exploit oil shale. Build nuclear plants.

Dern it, act right!

Luckily, SNL is in re-run mode...the season ended 2 weeks ago.

And here I thought SNL was cancelled in the early 1980s. At least, that was when I last saw it.

.... and while we are at it we should eliminate the IRS and institute a flat tax.

(wishing she had said that!)

“Prefect”. Are you sure that’s the word you meant to use?

Fnord Prefect, from Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Makes sense to me. Palin is an improbable politician, as one who doesn't pander to Iowa.

I was wondering how she was going to answer the ethanol question. I figured this would be her answer, and I’m glad to hear it! If a technology is going to find favor with the public, it will do so, regardless of subsidies.

Absolutely.

I keep hearing that oil companies are recording record profits. Let them run like any other business and don’t use our tax money to subsidize their profits.
