How about that, he's a lawyer to boot.
Angered by Ed Schultz's quick apology and suspension from MSNBC for maligning Laura Ingraham as a "right-wing slut" and 'talk slut," Los Angelese-based radio host Bill Handel has come up with a decidedly peculiar response to the controversy.
Is there "any proof that she's not" a slut, Handel asked on his KFI AM radio show.
Bill, when did you stop beating your wife?
If she sinks, she’s innocent. If she floats, she’s guilty.
So, the old impossible to prove a negative gambit, ay?
Meathead.
I listened to the segment at issue and can confidently say that Handel is NOT taking Ed Schultz’s side. It’s a bit like Rush’s “illustrating absurdity by being absurd” — using irony. I just completely disagree with Jack Coleman’s take, here, that Handel was being serious/literal.
Ed Schultz is a child molester...is there “any proof that he’s not” a child molester, I ask...
Bill is a clown.
yep. Bill says annoying things just to get a rise or sound absurd sometimes. I used to be a regular listener, but Ive grown tired of him. I do like Gary Hoffman, his funny guy with the voices. He has a show on the weekend that’s a pretty straightforward and entertaining take on the weeks news.
I used to listen to Handel in the morning regularly. I must admit, I have been caught by this very thing numerous times.
It's Handel's schtick. But he can be a bit one sided. I think a lot of that has to with that moronic lib co-host/sidekick Rich Marotta.
Same here. I used to listen to him 3 years ago but just tired of him. His “other” sidekick, is a major lefty, hates Bush etc. Not Hoffman, whose politics I;ve never heard mention.
OH GOD. Moron-na. He (Rich) Wasn’t so obnoxious when Paul The Wall was on, but I gather he got shipped off to Guam or something.
Handel is a mixed bag. Mostly I just listen because of the apolitical stuff. And Bill is in agreement with me on illegal aliens and sometimes on taxes. But he can be a huge leftist on a lot of other issues, at which points I just switch to Peter Tilden or Glenn Beck.
Handel is a silly, forgetful morning guy with a crew of guys behind him who rib him constantly for his poor memory. They all agree he may be in the first stages of Alzheimer’s and rib him for it. The show is fluff but sometimes hilariously funny. He’s pretty liberal except for fiscal issues or illegal immigration or Israel. They are highly irreverent with the news stories.
It’s the most entertaining show in the morning traffic of L.A. for sure. (the legal show is totally different on the weekends)
And he ain’t kiddin’ when he says his legal advice is no good. It’s impossible for a lawyer to instantly know the answer to every legal question. “I don’t know” isn’t in his reptoire, and I’ve heard him give flat out wrong advice on many occasions.
Peter Tilden has far more serious news on his morning show but he is as boring as hell. You will never even crack a smile listening to him. With Handel I have woken up laughing out loud.
“Ed Schultz is a child molester...is there any proof that hes not a child molester, I ask...”
Yup. He`s a peadophile because there isn`t any proof he isn`t one.
Yeah, that’s why Tilden is plan B. I miss John Phillips and ... what’sisname, the fellow who had to bow out due to cancer? KABC isn’t what it was in the “morning drive time” anymore. (I see they got Larry Elder back, but not when I can listen to him! I’m employed!)
i’ve listened to handel for decades off and on.
he gets by with outrageous things.
Paul seemed to bring balance to the show, if it can be described as that. Paul left on his own sometime ago, I forget the exact reasons, but they sounded personal.
Bill lost me when he couldn’t stop with the anti-Palin garbage and giving Marotta air time to talk about the 0 quite often during the last election.
But Bill is right about a lot of issues/problems, it’s his approach that throws people for a loop.
His show can be a riot, but your sarcasm meter better be tuned properly.
Oh, no, you don’t miss al rantel... I thought I did too. Then I found out he is back, on some weekend real estate show on kabc ( never heard it), so I looked him up online and he has an open facebook page, and dang if he has not become a full on Obama liberal! Some people have written on his wall about what a disappointment it is to see that change. He was a great conservative, who did not wear his orientation on his sleeve. Now it sound like he has become gay first, liberal second, and american last! How sad!
Can we blame it on the chemotherapy meds?
John Phillips subbed the other week for Tilden. At least he is still very funny.
“And he aint kiddin when he says his legal advice is no good. Its impossible for a lawyer to instantly know the answer to every legal question. I dont know isnt in his reptoire, and Ive heard him give flat out wrong advice on many occasions.”
Well, at least Handle brags that he gives “marginal legal advice!” He also tells callers if they want a real lawyer, they should hire one.
I do enjoy his show, especially the Saturday legal show. He doesn’t pretend to be fair or reasonable or competent, nor does he take himself seriously. I honestly don’t know how he gets away with his politically incorrect banter. I only remember him getting in real trouble for it once, when he picked on figure skater Kristi Yamaguchi. He is constantly putting down this or that ethnic group.
I think it’s especially funny when he tells male callers who are having legal problems with an ex-wife to “just kill her!”.... (and I’m a woman) How he gets away with it, I have noooo idea.
He did become a lot more conservative on gun issues after the Rodney King riots here in LA when he got caught up in it.
