After Barack Obama, America's first African American president, is America now prepared to vote its first black president into office? This week, the Republicans' best shot for a presidential win, staunch conservative Herman Cain, takes to the campaign trail. After an impressive showing in the first debate amongst GOP hopefuls, Cain, rather than Romney or Gingrich, could be the one to beat in 2012 -- a true black man.
To clarify, being black in America is not about the color of one's skin or the curl of one's natural hair, though part of it. It is about a shared history of a robbed heritage -- a culture that has developed over several centuries unique to any other in human history.
President Obama was never robbed of his heritage. He knew which of his relatives came from Africa, from whence he came, and under what circumstances. When we talk about black people in America, we speak of people who in the view of history had no name until Harriet Tubman and precious little in terms of property until the generation of black people represented by Herman Cain.
-snip-
Cain is Donald Trump minus theatrics. Despite a long history of voting Democratic, black voters, at least at the ballot box, choose traditional Judeo-Christian values which the G.O.P. Can capitalize on with Herman Cain. A little bit of Trump and a little bit of Jesse Jackson, he is smart, straight forward, and you don't get the sense that he's lying to you when he opens his mouth.
I'm a Democrat, and I can tell you that because he's hard to hate, and because he embodies the dreams we have for a new kind of candidate, Cain is a force to be reckoned with. He might just become our nation's first black president.

Let me point out a fact. I never have. You're barkin up the wrong tree.
Yeah, but he won’t.
It’d be more likely that it’ll be Sarah Palin and Lt Col Allen West on the GOP Ticket.
West has more name recognition and he also rides a motorcycle.
Unlike Mr ‘sissy-bicycle-rider’ Obama.
Geek says....”I like the idea of having a president who actually understands what it is to run a business and create jobs.”
I say....so does Romney. You like That idea? I don’t.
Vet .... Federal judge or cabinet post aside, you’re still more right than wrong. I would not vote for a pizza CEO, I don’t care HOW conservative he is (in primaries, that is - in the general I’ll vote for ANYBODY who’s not Satan himself, which we already have). What I don’t like is the copy-cat tendency of Republicans. (Our black man is blacker than your black man??? Puhleeze.) Cain is a fine man. There are many fine conservative men of all colors. They aren’t running for president. Have we not witnessed enough of what lack of experience does to this country??
Here you go, RT!
Either Bachman or Palin with herman Cain as VP.
George Will posts on FR?
WoT? Taxes? Terrorism?
What you call copy cat in this case is actually the GOP showing reality after the DemoRats have been projecting illusions.
It is by no means a slam dunk that Cain will be the GOP presidential candidate, but he bids fair for a prominent position in the cabinet of whoever the GOP presidential candidate is.
Liberals’ heads will explode, regardless of the details.
Times have changed and there are younger voters who look beyond race as the deciding factor in voting for a candidate. Its the message of the candidate that is important. If you don’t like Cain that is your business. However as Cain says, having governmental experience can be a minus against you in this election. Just look at Newt if you want an example of what I am talking about.
This is silly. America’s first Black president was Bill Clinton.
>>Palin/Cain or Cain/Palin? Either way, we could get our country back.<<
I can point out the specifics of Mrs. Palins problems — problems that could be overcome in a Cain/Palin ticket — with her on the top of a 2020 ticket after 8 years of being the best damn VP we ever had — one who makes policy and then sees to it being carried out.
Cain can do it — of we all pull with him.
He is well-known for taking on Clinton over Hillarycare in the 90s. He’s totally against Obamacare.
Against illegal aliens and sharia law.
Wants lower taxes and less regulation.
Pro-Israel.
Cain/Palin could put the White House into Republican hands for 16 years. I’d take it either way tho.
Forget it. The race card is already played.
With John Bolton as SOS.
Many females members of FR agree with me.
