New York Rep. Anthony Weiner has retained an attorney to advise him what civil or criminal actions should be taken after a lewd picture was sent from his Twitter account.
Weiner, who has represented part of New York City since 1998, says online hacking led to a close-up shot of a mans underwear being sent from his official Twitter account Saturday night.
Dave Arnold, a spokesman for Weiner, said the Congressmans staff is loathe to treat this incident as more than a prank but we are relying on professional advice.

The Daily Kos is alleging that someone at Breitbart’s site may have in on it with the supposed “hacker”.
There may be MANY lawsuits filed before long, lol.
For sure this will be in small claims court.
Why does he need an attorney to tell him to report it to law enforcement? How difficult is that?
At least Bret Favre retired after he broadcast his wiener to some chick.
I read that post. Well, OK, Daily Kos, if it’s really hacked or faked and Poor Weiner was framed (and not only by his cell phone camera), then let’s get the Feds to investigate. What is Daily Kos’s explanation for why Weiner has not called the FBI but instead a criminal attorney?
LOL. Very subtle. I like it.
Oh, I so hope the idiot Wiener sues Andrew Breitbart. Discovery will be incredible—and will prove to such a degree that he is guilty of sending a picture of his junk to a college student that even the liberal-covering media won’t be of any help.

If you were a married Congressman and someone posted a photo purporting to be your privates, to a young college student, ostensibly FROM YOU, wouldn’t you be INCENSED? Would you be laughing it off as a harmless prank (while calling your attorney), or would you be insisting the FBI get their investigation going YESTERDAY????
you obviously have a sense of huma
“Little Anthony’s Wiener Woes”....Coming to a theater near you.
Well I’m a strict constitutionalist and believe it IS my duty to cooperate with law enforcement to the greatest degree possible so long as I don’t do it at the expense of my or my neighbors liberties.
You sound libertarian bordering on anarchist.
Weiner just needs a Wilmer...
In my opinion, unfortunately, I would not advise anyone of any prominence to talk to any law enforcement about anything without discussing it with an attorney first.
Do you think Weiner’s base of little Jewish women constituents are going to support him if they think he’s a pervert?
We need the FBI to investigate since he has hired an attorney!
He comes from a long line of Weiners....
His father was a weiner...and his fathers father was a weiner..
Weiner hired the attorney to “Spank him with a paddle every time he sends obscene photos to students.”
It was clearly WEINER who sent the photo. What hacker would go to all that trouble, only to send a non-naked, not very shocking photo?
On the web it’s much easier to find actual obscene material, as opposed to hunting around for what sounds like a skinny weiner in his underpants.
Such an image is either sent by a grandma-aged hacker who’s shocked by bare ankles, or by a warped pervert like Weiner.
I was just telling my hubby that I thought Weiner might have meant to send her that pic via a DM put posted it on his publci twitter by mistake.
I’ve done that myself (minus an offending picture).
“Weiner is an idiot, but he has no obligation or duty to cooperate with law enforcement.”
If his claim is really that he was “hacked”, and multiple passwords were stolen, then it’s a different story. National security information and similar data could have been improperly accessed.
