Wow! I must be causing some people quite a concern as a candidate for the Republican nomination for president. The establishment skeptics are still stuck in the traditional campaign paradigm of immediate name ID, lots of money, and having held a worthy elective office before. The critics are pounding on what they perceive as my weaknesses. And the Democratic National Committee now has me on its radar and is sharpening its blades for a Cain attack.
No one is more emblematic of the Republican establishment than Karl Rove. He has an unmatched political record from his tenure with former president George W. Bush. I greatly respect and admire what he has accomplished in his career.
But I would suggest that he take a few minutes to review my record as a leader in business and as a problem-solver before he dismisses me as the radio talk show guy from Atlanta with not much to offer as a presidential candidate. Mr. Roves perspective also suggests that successful business skills are not applicable to changing the Titanic course our federal government is on.
People outside the political establishment are starting to recognize that those business skills are applicable. Maybe thats why Cain is rising in the polls.
Ads by Google Who is YOUR choice? Take our Poll! If the election was TODAY, who would you vote for? www.TheFreeEnterpriseNation.orgOne of my favorite political commentators, Charles Krauthammer of Fox News, described my candidacy as entertainment. I enjoy his perspectives because he is usually very thoughtful and often correct in his analysis. Unfortunately, this time he got it wrong. Some people would describe being able to give an informative and inspiring speech as an asset, especially if one is running for president.
Or maybe Mr. Krauthammer was thinking of the announcement rally we held in Atlanta recently, which attracted over 15,000 enthusiastic supporters. Then again, maybe its because we do not have the funds or the fundraising network that the more well-known candidates have. And no, my campaign is not broke, as someone on Chris Wallaces Fox News staff incorrectly concluded from a dormant PAC account.
My presidential campaign account is called Friends of Herman Cain, just in case Mr. Rove, Mr. Krauthammer and Mr. Wallace would like to make a contribution. Im not mad! We just have temporary differences of opinion.
And to my critics who are scouting for more of my weaknesses to write about, I will give you three you have not discovered yet. I dont know everything. I dont pander to groups. And I am terrible at political correctness. Like any candidate, I will make some gaffes and stumble in some interviews with the press.
On the other hand, my strengths include identifying problems, properly framing problems, solving problems, surrounding myself with good and great people, and giving those overly inspiring speeches to engage the people in my common sense solutions process. Oh! I also like to smile, laugh and have fun with people. I think people can handle those qualities in a presidential candidate.
Lastly, Im surprised that the DNC already has me on its political radar screen when not all of the potential candidates have yet to even formally declare their candidacy for the Republican nomination. Maybe the Democrats are taking my candidacy seriously, and if I win the nomination, they will not be laughing.
I realize that the road to the nomination and the White House is long and difficult. I know we will encounter many new challenges along the way, and that many people see my chances as against the odds.
When one considers that I am up against the skeptics, the critics, the establishment, the Democrats, the liberals, gotcha journalism, a liberal-leaning mainstream media, the challenges of raising campaign funds and a host of other candidates seeking the same objectives, my candidacy is against the odds.
But then, thats been the story of my life and my career.
Maybe my middle name should have been David. He defeated a giant against the odds.

Pinganator! (FReepmail me to be on/off the Herman Cain ping list)
Herman Cain’s Memorial Day Message (from Facebook):
Today and always, we remember those who have served, those who are serving and their families who sacrifice to keep this nation strong, independent and free. May God continue to bless the USA.

Cain is Able!
Like it. I am so sick of the Beltway Pundits.
The one thing he might be wrong about: Lots of money IS required. Click through and donate
Cain bump.
I imagine the dem operatives inside the beltway are absolutely crapping their pants that a guy like Cain is getting traction.
Authentic Black, successful businessman, no political record to attack, conservative, articulate........ and as Plugs Biden would say clean
I am sure as the sun is coming up tomorrow the inside the beltway dems are calling the inside the beltway RINO to figure out a way to put some grease under Cain wheels.
After all, just who in the hell do we think we are, actually picking our candidates without their approval / S
I can not bear to watch the so called news on the cable. It has become repulsive. All channels including Fox.
Probably Romney trolls or just plain racist
I can understand people not supporting him for various reasons, but Cain will rise or fall based on what Cain does and the message he presents.
People should at least give him the chance to do that and let the chips fall where they may
They will be along stortly to tell you of the errors of your way. To them just the fact that you would consider Cain or want to give him a fair hearing makes you a ‘red diaper doper baby’.
Some people would describe being able to give an informative and inspiring speech as an asset, especially if one is running for president.
We have one of those now, and he hasn't worked out real well. Turns out it takes alot more than that. A record of sterling elected, executive, and legislative accomplishment is a reasonable and logical minimum prerequisite, given how close our country is to the edge of disaster.
I back a candidate who drew over 30,000 people to a rally outside Atlanta... and she's from Alaska; not exactly a home town hero.
My presidential campaign account is called Friends of Herman Cain, just in case Mr. Rove, Mr. Krauthammer and Mr. Wallace would like to make a contribution. Im not mad! We just have temporary differences of opinion.
You say that the commentators are wrong about your campaign being "broke." I note you mention the name of your "real" election account, but still don't mention how much money you have in it. Definitely falls into the category of "Things that meke voters go 'Hmmmm.....'" For the record, Sarah's PAC checkbook is listed online, like she did with the Alaska State Budget. Consider trying it; it inspires confidence.
And to my critics who are scouting for more of my weaknesses to write about, I will give you three you have not discovered yet. I dont know everything. I dont pander to groups. And I am terrible at political correctness. Like any candidate, I will make some gaffes and stumble in some interviews with the press.
Thank you! So, making an occasional gaffe in media interviews doesn't matter? That's the one and only objective strike against my choice of candidate, Sarah Palin. Good to know it shouldn't matter to this discussion, and doesn't affect electablilty. Most voters have seemed to disagree, at least up until now.
So you're a problem solver, and people like you. That is truly nice. But it is not even close to a solid retinue of qualifications for being President. I am both of those things, and I would not think of running. I have also started two international, multi-million dollar corporations with thousands of employees. I know the job of President requires much, much more than that. You should, too.
Lastly, Im surprised that the DNC already has me on its political radar screen when not all of the potential candidates have yet to even formally declare their candidacy for the Republican nomination. Maybe the Democrats are taking my candidacy seriously, and if I win the nomination, they will not be laughing.
The DNC's job is to respond to declared (and likely) opponents to their candidate. I'm surprised that this surprises you. Acting like their having noticed you is an indication of your being qualified for the job is a dodge, not a qualification. We already have a dodger with no real record prior to being elected President. As I've already stated, he hasn't worked out so well.
You are right about one thing. No, we're not laughing.
We already have a "David." She's succeeded in being elected several times at the State and Local level, and in every instance, she has acquitted herself with distinction and accomplishments which border on amazing. The soon-to-be-released move "The Undefeated" will lay out the facts of that remarkable history of accomplishment.
Merely being an underdog is not a qualification. When you can actually come up with some points which you feel actually qialifies you for the position you seek, I look forward to fairly reviwing and discussing those, too. That is, after all, what elections are all about.
IMHO

Well I like Sarah as well.. but before you dismiss Herman Cain you might oughta make sure she’s running first.
She is quickly becoming annoying with her “maybe yes maybe no” game. Shit or get off the pot. The country doesn’t have time for games.

An almost iron clad, absolute political truism - if a candidate claims they've got the establishment or their opponents "running scared" (or in this case causing "quite a concern"), they almost assuredly don't.
Candidates making real inroads or in a serious position to win don't have to try to convince people that they are relevant and being noticed.
He also has a nasty habit of not revealing that he is a paid advisor of a particular candidate.
I am, of course, referring to his work as a Mike Castle advisor which he failed to mention while he was out trashing Christine O'Donnell in the guise of an impartial Fox News Contributor.
Who ya workin' for now, Karl?
It is also the slogan of Kane Trucking on the East coast. It has been for years. You can see that slogan plastered on the sides of thousands of trucks.
