The TV series Friends undermined family values; Sesame Street taught ethnic minorities about civil disobedience; Happy Days had a subtle anti-Vietnam subtext; and the 1980s cop show MacGyver tried to persuade pistol-packing Americans that guns are bad. That, at least, is the considered opinion of Ben Shapiro, an investigative author and right-wing columnist who will publish a detailed exposé tomorrow telling how Hollywood producers, writers and actors have been secretly using TV to promote what he calls a "radical" left-leaning political agenda.
Shapiro's book, Primetime Propaganda runs to 416 pages and revolves around comments by 70-odd industry heavyweights who he approached for interviews.

McGyver was a cop? Huh?
“fairy shoeperson”:: My husband and I almost spit out our coffee on the computer screen laughing so hard *laughs*
Shapiro is relatively well known among the conservative commentariat, but believes he was able to persuade so many interviewees to reveal more than was perhaps sensible because they assumed he was a fellow liberal.
"There was a certain amount of stereotyping on their part in granting the interview," he said. "Many probably assumed that with a name like Shapiro and a Harvard Law credential, there was no need to Google me: I would have to be a leftist. In Hollywood, talking to a Jew with a Harvard Law baseball cap is like talking to someone wearing an Obama pin."
I think MacGyver was a former Bomb technician, Taxi driver, Hockey player, F1 driver and probably many other things and the show “tricked” kids to pay attention in school in hopes of some day being able to do the cool things he did.
What I found strange about American movies was often repeated scene where the Bad Guy says “drop the gun” and Good Guy does so. As if to develop the illusion that total disarmament [by] the United States would be a demonstration of moral strength.
My dad knew Henson’s dad from the golf course or something like that. My dad, God rest his soul, was outraged when I said Sesame Street was promoting homosexuality because “Henson is a home town boy! I know his father!”
I pointed out that all the characters (for many years at the onset of the show) were male except for “Miss Piggy”, a drag queen; and that Bert and Ernie were “roommates” shown in the same bedroom many times.
Dad opined that I just had a “dirty mind.”
it's necessary to spend time teaching kids, reading to kids, and talking to kids everyday in order to be the biggest influence in their lives
Not only Hollywood writers and producers. It’s endemic in the advertising industry as well where almost anyone of “merit” or “value” or “attractiveness’ is portrayed as a left wing liberal, and almost all of the “bad guys” are conservatives. The ads are so blatantly politically correct where the “bad guys” or the “stupid guys” are almost always portrayed as white males, while the heroes, or victims, or the more intelligent of the characters are almost always members of a minority. I’m talking about ads for products ranging from dish soap and toilet paper to major financial industry institutions selling credit cards and banking services.
While on this topic, has anyone noticed how destitute these advertisers have become to find new “music” for their ads, and how “stealing” past hit tunes has become the norm for advertising background audio? And how “adept” these agencies have become at slightly “re-tooling” the very recognizable tune to avoid a copyright infringement suit? The spin and blatant intellectual theft coming out of these corporations is so obvious it’s nauseating. I have to get up and walk out of the room just to keep from throwing up.
I pulled the plug on the television when my daughter was two. To this day she does not have a television(she is in her twenties)and just graduated with honors from Columbia University. I came home one day and she was addressing her mother and talking about her teacher the same as Nickelodeon- TV stopped that night. I never regretted my action as she is a rational, calm and stable individual. The lack of television is certainly one factor in her development into the person she has become.
Yes, it is worse...because the communist infiltration started in our public schools under the guise of “Progressive Education” and Dewey instituted it before television. Their complete control of ideas and press and children’s thinking was proven with the total destruction of the reputation of the WWII hero, Tailgunner Joe, in the early 50’s. McCarthy was the example of what happens to the career of politicians or anyone in power when they dare criticize communism.

TV is conditioning children to think the abnormal is normal so they will be susceptible to ridiculous concepts—like Heather has two mommies.
The godless elites want to dictate right and wrong....got to kill off God and go against natural law and God’s laws which takes massive propaganda and Pavlovian conditioning. We are seeing the results as we see the nonsense being promoted as rational......total transformation of worldview from our Founding.
***What I found strange about American movies was often repeated scene where the Bad Guy says drop the gun and Good Guy does so.**
I absolutly hate the misuse of firearms on TV and in movies.
Worst scenes...
1. Cop killer threatens to shoot a hostage if cops don’t drop their guns. They do.
(a)If he shoots the hostage he has no cover.
(b) Cops then send in good looking woman reporter to talk the perp into giving up.
2. Two people pull guns on each other, but don’t fire, waiting to see what theother will do.
If one pulls the trigger can the other duck in time to have the bullet miss him, then shoot back?
3. Cop shoots a rabid dog (Cujo)or evil person, but is too tight to waste another bullet to make sure the offender is really really dead.
4. Bad guy is a foreign diplomat. When confronted with his crime he holds up his card and yells..”Diplomatic Immunity!” Cop shoots him anyway. (Audience cheers)
Think of what would happen if a REAL foreign diplomat were shot dead by a US cop.
The list is endless and that is why I rarely go to movies any more.
I noticed the brainwashing in the classrooms....in subtle ways not to cause parent’s suspicions. I was particularly sensitive because I gave birth to four white males over time and was appalled at the ugly ideology of feminism where there is a rabid hatred of men and the irrational thinking about homosexuality which tries to undermine male sexuality formation.
I saw the ugly dysfunctional behavior that TV was always promoting because I was raised without television in early life and had a Catholic education....with nuns teaching logic and knowledge in the tradition of Bacon/Newtonian methodology.

T.V. is virtually non-existent in our home.
Unfortunately, our children (grades 5, 3, and pre-K) are not getting taught by logic teaching nuns in our Catholic school. Instead, they bring home “end of school year” DVD’s featuring Godless secular music from such homo, dirt loving singers as Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, and others who promote materialism, sex, violence, drugs and the new age agenda.
We are currently deciding whether or not to allow them to continue in this hypocrisy. At least in the local public school we can blame it the government and secular world.
Parents are the ultimate educators of children, as it is meant to be. It helps to have supportive institutions, but not necessary. I would go to homeschooling or get together with a few parents and hire a tutor rather than waste my children’s time with garbage. Time is too important and their worldview and the ideas transmitted to them determine who they are to a large extent and what they value in life.
All you need is 4 hours a day and with resources on the internet and homeschool networks you would be amazed at the fantastic resources that are out there for those who search for it.
I can never understand how parents allow dysfunctional ideas to be promoted to their young children and think they are not powerful and affect their identity. Images, particularly, are very powerful and have lasting effect on the brain. Goebbels and Lenin and Stalin and Mao have always understood the power of images. TV presented a very powerful tool for propaganda—much better than radio. Hitler used movies.
The promotion of the homosexual fantasy of the perfect woman—Twiggy— led to eating disorders in girls to an extent never realized in a society prior to this little-boy-look that most homosexuals fantasize about. Images are easier for the young children to process and understand and they have great power to shape thought and determine beauty and “normal”.
NO, you can't. Not if YOU'RE the parents!
We have school-aged children and we don't need it to teach the kids. They like the puppets if they see them, but that's about it.
“At least in the local public school we can blame it the government and secular world.”

*******
YES, we CAN (ugh - reminds of Obama). To be clear, the “it” is the crap like what is found in most secular t.v. and music. “It” exists in this world and is pushed by secular society, including government schools - not us, as parents.
Who are we to blame it on, if not the secular world? It certainly doesn’t come from us - the parents!
We expect it to be pushed by secular society. We don’t like it and will fight it wherever we can because we are conservative Christians and because we are our children’s parents. THE method of fighting it - as parents - is through our faith and teachings of Christ.
We do not expect to find it pushed in our religious faith and schools. When it is pushed by schools of our faith, then our children, and us as parents, see a very blatant hypocrisy in schools of our faith that are supposed to be relying on Catholic doctrine that opposes “it”. While as adults we better know the tenets of our faith and know that our true faith does not teach this crap, what our children get out of it is, “gee, our Christian school teachers say it is okay, so it must be.” Pope Pius XII (? not sure ?) highlighted this very problem when Catholic/Christianity does not permeate the child’s school — it is worse for the children because of the hypocrisy. I believe Bishop Sheen and Father Corapi highlighted the same problem when Catholic schools stray from correct doctrine.
On the other hand, if they are subjected to this garbage in a secular school, we and our children have our (untainted) faith to lean on (”untainted” because teachers “of our faith” have not corrupted the message).
So, YES, we, AS OUR CHILDREN’S PARENTS, CAN (ugh again), blame “it” on secular society, as that is where it originates, and we can continue to fight it at that level and by relying on our faith that has not been corrupted by secular minded teachers who found their way into our Catholic school.
Bottom line: Blaming “it” on secularism does not mean that we role over and approve it!
Thank you for your response. I agree.
We’ve kicked around home schooling the past couple of years. From an academic standpoint we can handle it (with support of course as you mentioned) and would likely enjoy it very much. Economically, I’m not so sure.
Thanks again!
