During the comments, talk turned briefly to whether McCain would support former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin - his running mate during the 2008 presidential election - in a bid for the White House in 2012.
McCain said it is all hypothetical at this point, as Palin has not officially announced her intention to seek the Republican nomination.
"I'm proud of Sarah Palin. I'm proud of the campaign that she ran and she invigorated our campaign," McCain said. "I think she will be a very formidable candidate if she decides to seek the nomination of the Republican Party."
The New York Daily News reports that Palin will begin her "One Nation" bus tour this weekend, an event that organizers are keeping cloaked in mystery.
Her political action committee is only revealing that she'll start in Washington and go up through New England to "educate and energize Americans about our nation's founding principles."
There is no mention on whether an announcement will be made on the tour.
"If she were the nominee of the Republican Party, I think she'd do what I didn't do, and that's beat Barack Obama," McCain said.

Hmm, quite the turn around. He just walked off the RINO plantation. He is NOT supposed to say such things.
Me thinks mclame believes she will run....and win. Looks like he is now trying to "get" on her good side.
He’s poison to her. But...she did all she could to saddle the US with him during his election. Now he can continue to stab the whole country in the back for another six, long years. She owed him a favor for stabbing her in the back.
I'm proud of Sarah Palin. I'm proud of the campaign that she ran and she invigorated our campaign. I think she will be a very formidable candidate if she decides to seek the nomination of the Republican Party. I also think we got to be respectful here. You should not be scared of Obama winning a second term. What you should be scared of is Palin getting an endorsement from me. |

If you want off my ping list get over it!
There are lots of people in this world who live too long and don’t know when to shut up. But, what can we expect when the “next generation” of policians keep worshipping them.
I would suspect that if Sarah does make a successful run, she would find a wonderful government job for McCain where he can live out his remaining days in peace - like Ambassador to a far off land far, far away from the U.S. Senate. There are many ways to get rid of RINO’s and I would expect her to use all of them.
I hope for a bit of political jujutsu, with the RINOs ending up under the bus, and Palin on top.
Great post!
Why shouldn’t he love her? She endorsed him over JD Hayworth and supports his position on amnesty.
Nor will she.
Sarah Palin was the only bright spot in a very disturbing election.
If the Republican party puts up another old, out-of-touch, bloodless white guy, it will have an devastating impact on many future elections. The torch has passed and the party better recognize it.
It’s time for an American woman POTUS. We can’t do any worse than some of our recent Jokers In Office. Let’s make sure it is a great, down-to-earth, conservative woman!
It was McCain that first gave Sarah a national stage so she could show off her stuff.
Sarah, in turned, lent her star power to getting McLame reelected.
I’d say they are even steven.
Think about this. What else could McLame say? Sarah sucks? After he picked her to VPOTUS?
I think they are planning for her to take over his Senate seat.
Don’t you think McCain picked Palin as his running mate against his own wishes? Dollars to donuts he wanted Lieberman. But everyone around him told him it would sink his campaign. Just a guess on my part.
Make him Ambassador to Vietnam. Who else knows the people better?
Maybe he wants to end his career as Secretary of Defense?
Someone needs to whisper in Juan’s ear and tell him: “if she does run and you do not endorse her, you will be the most widely hated Republican in history.”
Awesome idea to send McCain to Vietnam as Ambassador. As part of his responsibilities he can search for our many missing POW’s. Noble thing to do - and like you said, no one better equipped to do the job!
