Burglar is freed to care for his children after judge rules prison breached his 'human rights'
The Daily Mail (UK) ^ | 27th May 2011

A burglar was let out of jail yesterday because locking him up breached his family’s human rights.

In a staggering judgment, the Appeal Court ruled that the rights of Wayne Bishop’s five children were more important than those of his victims or the interests of justice.

MPs said it opened the way to thousands more convicts claiming a ‘get out of jail card’ under the controversial Human Rights Act.

More than 200 foreign prisoners, including killers, cheated deportation last year by claiming they have a human right to a ‘family life’ in Britain.

For this reason, didn’t the families of prisoners once have the option of being imprisoned with him? (or her)

As I’ve said before, Great Britain should change its name to Not So Great Britain.

Cool, now they have room to jail the burgled homeowner for not sorting his trash.

I’m reading Atlas Shrugged and just about every news item that involves government of some kind seems to be torn right out of the page of that novel.

I’m really, really scared for our country and even our “civilization”. Rand and Orwell were absolutely pre-scient.

Yes - I read 1984 again the other day - I was surprised to say the least at how spot on some parts of it are!

According to the news article, he was the getaway driver for a burglary of a rugby club. Apparently no money was found to steal; the only thing stolen was some chocolate (hey even burglars need a snack on a frustrating day).

What isn’t said here is whether he has to serve house arrest with an ankle monitor or something like that for the remainder of his sentence. I’d think that would be the case.

Very similar to the argument amnesty advocates use to argue against deportation of illegal alien parents: shouldn’t separate families. Just add the “human right” argument and there you have it.

WTF didn’t this low-life “think of his kids” while committing crimes? Great Britain never ceases to amaze me with their stupidity. It’s like California on steroids for stupidity.

My comment was more about the UK justice system than the burglar.

It seems (as in the US) that it's not profitable for the state to jail criminals,.....so let's raise revenue from those with something to take,...you know the rest.
