Lech Walesa, the great hero of the Polish Solidarity movement, was in Washington earlier this week to receive the Ronald Reagan Centennial Award. He gave a terrific speech, which I attended, in which he referred to Cuba, one of the last remaining Marxist tyrannies, as a “Jurassic Park of Communism”. Walesa remains one of the great political icons of our time, a brave freedom fighter who stood up to the Soviet Empire and led his people to liberty.
It has been announced that Walesa has decided not to meet with Barack Obama during the president’s visit to Poland. He has declined an invitation to join a group of Polish leaders in Warsaw tomorrow who will greet the president. Walesa is reportedly traveling to Italy for a biblical festival instead, and told Poland’s TVN24:
It’s difficult to tell journalists what you’d like to say to the president of a superpower. This time I won’t tell him, I won’t meet him, it doesn’t suit me.

Carter at least understood nuclear physics and served in the navy.
I’m sure if the USSR had launched its nukes Carter would have done his duty and fired back.
If China or Russia did the same today (not that I see it happening) I can’t say Obama would fire back.
I hope the Americans who voted for “O” based on his European popularity, finally see that they need to make up their OWN minds and ignore the ‘global test’ for US Presidents.

It pains me to take pleasure in Walesa bitch-slapping (metaphorically speaking) a US President....

Many years ago Walesa spoke at our local university. I took my son, who was about 14 or 15 at the time, to the lecture, telling him, “This is one of the great men of our time!”
We were privileged to shake his hand and have a few words with him.
A great memory!
Lech Walsea knows what it is like to live under the yoke of communist tyranny and to meet with the usurping communist would-be dictator 0bama would only lend an air of legitimacy to one who has always been illegitimate (in so many ways).

Some pundit took Bibi to task last week for talking to Obama like he did. Screw that! Barack Hussein Obama deserves every comeuppance he gets. What an inconsequential man.
