UCLA Study estimated the gay population, based on self-identification, at about 3.5%, and another 1.8% self-identifies as bisexual.
That is nowhere near the 25% number, but it is not insignificant. If the number were evenly spread across the country (which is a big if, given that most openly gay people are city dwellers) it would mean that about 1 out every 20 people you know is either gay or bisexual.

Thanks for the info.
The key word that I read is ‘self-identification’. You got a whole series of new civil rights victim protection laws around the country that are based on protection of those defined by self identification of those words gay, etc.
I with the Paul's (ATTENTION Paul plug here LOL) are not too thrilled about some provisions of the 1964 civil rights act, but at least we know when someone is not white and qualifies, beyond just their word.

Even 3.5 sounds too high to me. A few years ago they estimated that 1% of the population was homosexual. I know they’ve been recruiting, even in the government schools, but I strongly doubt that anywhere near 25% have made the choice to be homosexual!
