BEAUTIFUL! Thanks for sharing!

Wasn’t Waikiki just gorgeous as well?
As I was saying on another thread, this was a generation that saved the world.

WOW — JUST WOW.
I couldn’t help but compare to today. Rather than celebrations, there would be code pinko, braided underarm hair a blazing, blocking the entire boulevard with anti-USA signs screaming “we dropped a bomb! We are evil!”
OTOH, had WWII happened in today’s liberal political environment, we would all be speaking German and/or Japanese.

I noticed the Old Waikiki theater in one scene. Just recently torn down, sadly.

Yeah and also those people would be saying we shouldn't rejoice in the defeat of our enemy.

Cool film thanks for sharing.
It was, at the time, a pretty big deal. MY dad still talks about how the atom bomb saved his life.

Sure brought tears to these old eyes. My generation. Yep, even the background music of Jimmy Durante singing "I'll Be Seeing You" brings back memories.

My dad was in the 8thUSAAF in WW II..I have several pics of him with Jo Stafford during a USO Tour in England in 1944..He’d been shot down near the French coast, so he made it back a few days later...his reward was to meet with the stars of the USO tour

SONOBUOY PING!
Click on pic for past Navair pings.
Post or FReepmail me if you wish to be enlisted in or discharged from the Navair Pinglist.
The only requirement for inclusion in the Navair Pinglist is an interest in Naval Aviation.
This is a medium to low volume pinglist.

I well remember Jo Stafford. Her biggest hit was “You Belong To Me”. Although released in 1950 it was originally written as a song of the WWII period.

Gotta fix this monitor. It got all blurry.
For you youngsters, the singer was Jimmy Durante, great comedian and entertainer. I don’t know who his backup group was.
