President Obama told a bipartisan group of members of Congress today that he expects the U.S. would be actively involved in any military action against Libya for "days, not weeks," after which he said the U.S. would take more of a supporting role, sources tell ABC News.
"We are not going to use force to go beyond a well-defined goal, specifically the protection of civilians in Libya," he said.

...and now its months.
The only way we will ever be sure that civilians are not endangered will be when all Gaddafi’s prisons and mass graves can be examined by neutral observers.
Obama speak and now it’s months and BILLIONS
I predicted that Moammar Gadhafi would win this struggle before Obama got his war on. I still think this ends with him in power.
The only thing Obama knows about the military is that ‘those uniforms look butch.’
The list, ping
Let me know if you would like to be on or off the ping list
Killing thousands of more people than daffy ever touched. But Obummer got the flying ships and tanks and buildings, and killed three of daffy grand kids. He de man!!!!!! Obummer, he de man!!!!!
Didn’t he say the same thing over two months ago?????
If there was ever a problem with this current incident, it’s the fact that there is no obvious sign yet of determination to finish it off. I hope to see some call for “all in” sooner or later, because otherwise this is a re-run of Clinton years, where you had a few good missile and air strikes, but still loads upon loads of jobs not finished, including Iraq and Afghanistan. Easily more, but those were the two unfinished jobs that have stuck out the most over the more recent years.
The reality of our fiscal condition means putting an end to our reckless and highly expensive role as world policeman, democracy builder, and country builder emeritus of the world that the fools and neocons like McCain, Graham and Lieberman and others are so gung ho to involve GIs.
We need to take care of America first, starting with our borders. We also need to assess EVERY nation (no exclusions) that benefits from the US umbrella of defense and who drinks from the teats of the USA taxpayer. Time to end this as a freebie.
"In terms of the U.S. role, I would make this point, which I'm not sure is widely understood in Britain or in Europe is already a huge number of the sorties and the support and the air assets that are actually bringing the pressure to bear are U.S. assets. There was this enormous effort at the beginning, as the president said, but also a sustained amount of assets that have been used."
And as the president said, there are also the unique assets and capabilities that the U.S. has that others don't have that are so vital. And as he said, we all have to ask what is it that we can all do to make sure the pressure is really brought to bear. That is what the British are doing, the French are doing, the Americans are doing. And I know we'll discuss this in the margins of the G8."
“Don’t hold me acccountable for what I said back then. How was I supposed to know this was going to turn to sh_t?”
just like the Vietnam War was a matter of days....5690 of them to be exact....it all depends on what your definition of the word “is” is
