PORTLAND, Ore. - A mail carrier who was caught using a yard as his personal toilet will not be fired.
The incident happened last month at a home in southeast Portland and a neighbor, Don Derfler, captured the man in the act with his camera.
Derfler had been waiting for his babysitter when he saw his mailman acting odd at his neighbor's house across the street. The postal worker then pulled down his pants and that's when Derfler began snapping pictures.
"We trust people like the postal service and meter readers and people of that nature," Derfler told us when we interviewed him in April. "To come on to our property and to defecate - it's just wrong."
The incident was an embarrassment to the post office and the worker was immediately placed on unpaid leave. Now, a decision has been made to keep the worker but he will be transferred to a different route.
A spokesperson said the administrative action was taken based on a postal service investigation but he did not elaborate. He also did not say which route the mail carrier has been assigned to cover.
Just another one of those selfless public servants Obama keeps lecturing us about.
Snail Mail becomes Smell Mail.
I don’t see what is news about this. The IRS has been defecating on us for years, and they still have their jobs.
I fail to see anything odd here; the federal gub’mint has been dumping on citizens for years.
Is this an unconditional or is this conditional on his ability to keep his shiat together?
“Neither rain nor snow or the dreaded ‘dookie squats’ shall stop the USPS”
“Special Delivery, [characterization deleted]”.
Seems like this yard would have its own kind of “forever” stamp.
Aw, cut him a break. Jack Nicholson as Edward Cole in The Bucket List said it best: “never trust a fart.” Stuff happens.
Doesn’t this still violate some sort of city ordinance ? You know, the one about not defacating in public on someones property.
We pay the USPS to drop **** off, but this is going to far.
Cliffy, Cliffy, Cliffy...
I guess no one on Free Republic has had that cramp hit them when there is no place to go.
Hey, I ain’t talking about a dump here here but my wife caught me taking a relief off the back deck the other night and said it was disgusting...I told her I was reliving myself on the same lawn that our 2 cats, a dog and probably a dozen wild animals piss on each day, yet none of them pay the mortgage...so forgive me for feeling a sense of entitlement to mark my territory from time to time.
This is just another “craptastic” decision by the USPS.
There are animals pretending to be humans walking amongst us. They can usually hide their base nature, but sometimes they lose control and then they are outed by their own actions.
It’s usually not so benign as one fouling a yard, usually it involved violence or bloodshed, but they are out there.
And their numbers are growing.
Sure have. That is why I carry a lunch kettle. I just have to make sure my sandwich isn't still in there.
It seems he's already covered enough, lol.
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/2725754/posts ~ already well covered in this only slightly older thread. Again, I do pray that all the critics be stricken with chron’s disease, celiac, wheat gluten intolerance or any number of other normal, natural, very destructive problems of the upper and lower GI. BRING THEM TO THEIR KNEES in everybody’s front yard.
Last time that happened I didn’t check to see if your sandwich was still in there. Bet you’ve never had anything so good in your life.
So he was assigned to cover a new route. Cover it with what? Or is he just marking new territory?
