Palin Creates Buzz But Rivals Bet She Won't Run (Romney Adviser: Palin an 'entertainer')
The Washington Examiner ^ | Thursday, May 26, 2011 | Byron York

Posted on 05/26/2011 6:27:37 PM PDT by kristinn

"The bottom line is Sarah Palin is not going to run for president," says a Republican adviser close to front-runner Mitt Romney. "She's making money, she's moved on, she's kind of an entertainer rather than a politician. She still has some sway with the grass roots, but she is not going to run." "I don't think she's going to run," says a Republican close to Tim Pawlenty. "She has faded a lot in the last few months. I look at what she's doing now and say that she's found a way to get back in the story."

Maybe these representatives of rival campaigns are just spinning. But the fact is, some of the most serious people in the 2012 Republican race don't believe Palin will run. While the press looks at the former Alaska governor's publicity operation, political pros look at her campaign operation, or, more accurately, her lack of a campaign operation.

"Watch what she has done," says the Republican close to Romney. "Has she contacted one major donor across the country about putting together an organization? Has she talked to one member of the Republican National Committee about working for a campaign, or one governor, or one former governor about working for a campaign? The answer is no."

Campaigns are filled with routine work. For example, on Thursday, the Pawlenty team sent out a message headlined, "Governor Pawlenty Unveils Florida Finance Team." It's not newsy, but it's the kind of thing presidential campaigns have to do. Palin's not doing it. There are no Palin campaign organizations in early primary and caucus states, or anywhere else, for that matter.

Nevertheless, the political world is filled with speculation about Palin's intentions. Until recently, most Republican insiders believed she would not run.

Romney DOES have good points.
He brought eloquent rapists and millions of illegal
aliens to Massachusetts, along with his imposition
of gay marriage, murderer-freeing judges, and
ROMNEYCARE.

Romney, the GOP-backstabber, even got amateur radio
operators to hate him.

Gov. Sarah Palin, Governor of the state of Alaska, proclaimed the week of July 28 through August 3, 2008 as: Amateur Radio Week

Mr. Romney "Disses" Amateur Radio In Televised Town Meeting

Okay, I'll take one more stab at it......................

Look, I don't give a damn what she has to say about another GOPer, running for the '12 presidential nomination, should she not run. GOT THAT ?

I want the chance to help her win the GOP nomination AND the presidency. Should she not run, for whatever reason, I'll have a very difficult time with the rest of the lot. Every candidate, in every party, has pros and cons; most have far more cons than pros. We know far more about ALL of the Palins than the American populace has EVER known about ANY candidate, in the history of this nation. What I don't know about the other GOPers, is problematical for me. I don't like surprises and the DEMs and the MSM WILL try their damnedest to pull an "October surprise" on the GOP nominee.

I've worked on many a local, state, and national campaign during my adult lifetime. I investigate those running and make up my own mind, ALL ON MY OWN, and then decide; again...........ALL ON MY OWN.

I can live with a loss, but if she doesn't run, then WHY should I care who she endorses?

i was TRYING to be nice and diplomatic... ;)

I dislike Romney so much I can't be bothered with niceties.

but seriously, being fair, he does have good experience as a governor, and in the business world.

I will give you that he was a governor. Yes, he's apparently a good businessman, but so are lots of leftists. Nothing in Romney's record impresses me.

absolutely !!! you understand that. most don’t. the extra % of base Palin or a true conservative will turn out, will more than make up for the moderates and “independents” that Rove and others tell us are SOOOOO important.

Yup, think what would have happened to the McCain campaign without Palin on the ticket. He'd have been destroyed in a boring, perfunctory, workman like fashion. No excitement, no crowds, nothing. Palin made that ticket competitive. In order to win we must be able to fire up the conservative and Tea Party base and harness their enthusiasm. Excitement breeds more excitement. I do think we need to reach independents though, but I believe Palin can do that just fine. I am not concerned by her high negatives at this point. She accumulated those simply by being the target a lot of slings and arrows, not by gaffes or being wrong on policy. Anyone in the spotlight like her who is the target of a lot of opposition will have high negatives. Even Hillary had them and overcame them easily and ran very competitively against Hussein.

yep. that was what i said before. just the documentary and the RV tour seem pretty clear to me. Too many people believe in her. i don’t think she is capable of letting them down. she’s not egotistical. she simply cares.

I think this is her moment and it appears to me she is setting up for a run. I am not certain though, she may only be keeping her options open at this point and trying to do some good along the way. If she doesn't run I won't take it personally and will still love her, but I'd be extremely disappointed.

(btw, it is nice to agree with you for a change... ;) )

We're all on the same team :) I argue ferociously when I think I am right, but in the end we all basically share the same core values and need to stick together when it counts in the effort to remove Hussein and defeat the leftists whom are doing so much damage to our country.

I sincerely hope you have enjoyed posting at Free Republic...

I've sailed these waters many years ... longer than you pal. Here at FR you are entitled to an opinion ... it may get stormy at times but I've survived turbulent seas. If for some reason my support of Romney, as a viable republican candidate, runs afoul of the prevailing mindset here at FR then let me wish you a enthusiastic and hearty FU farewell.

Mr. Robinson has already stated that Mitt Cheerleaders need to take their act somewhere else. Mitt was a pro-abortion weasel until he decided to take his snake oil show national.

“Who are these people who are for Romney, where are they?”

Good point. I would think he might be a regional candidate, but Huckabee was promoted similarly, I live in the heart of what should be his base area, and know of no one who wanted, or even particularly thought of him. Lots of Palin supporters, some Barbour (moot now, thankfully) and a few Ron Paul, or they support the factor of Zero.

“How can you support someone so fervently and not “give a damn” about her recommendation?”

For one thing, deciding -not- to run could well change a candidate’s perceived integrity, acuity or passion.

Rove was just on with Greta and even he says that Palin makes her own rules and is running and he didn’t trash her.

Please, -please- continue to support your favored candidate in this vigorous and forceful manner. It tells us much.

but it’s the kind of thing presidential campaigns have to do.”

Who says anything has to be done the same way all the time? How utterly boring. Their same old, same old is one of the reasons we are in the mess we are in IMO. Congress has had all those rules, committees, sub-committees, caucases and all that garbage for so long they don’t know how to get anything done except for making sure so many different people are involved that no one person can be blamed for their disaster.

Bye.

Interesting development ... Jim Robinson addressing me personally for the first time since I joined FR way back in 1998. I attended the the FR March for Justice rally in Washington DC October 31, 1998. I was the standard carrier for the Marine Corps banner on that occasion. Jim, I've supported FR all those years since. For any one reading this post out there in FReeper land ... you now get a measure of this man.

More than a few of us broken glass conservatives would never vote for Romney, ever. We are enough of a factor to sink his chances of gaining his own presidential planet. Sorry.
