GM firms claimed toxins were destroyed in the gut
Study: Mothers to be were tested Toxins implanted into GM food crops to kill pests are reaching the bloodstreams of women and unborn babies, alarming research has revealed.
A landmark study found 93 per cent of blood samples taken from pregnant women and 80 per cent from umbilical cords tested positive for traces of the chemicals. Millions of acres in North and South America are planted with GM corn containing the toxins, which is fed in vast quantities to farm livestock around the world including Britain.
However, it is now clear the toxins designed to kill crop pests are reaching humans and babies in the womb apparently through food.
It is not known what, if any, harm this causes but there is speculation it could lead to allergies, miscarriage, abnormalities or even cancer.
To date the industry has always argued that if these toxins were eaten by animals or humans they would be destroyed in the gut and pass out of the body, thus causing no harm. Read more: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-1388888/GM-food-toxins-blood-93-unborn-babies.html#ixzz1NTfM2jJj

This really creeps me out. Pregnant people, avoid all corn and soy, period. No sodas, no packaged or fast food.
GM ??/General Mills???
Which is why I'll only eat Ford food.
Of course they would say that. They have no bias whatsoever on this issue.... /s
GM = Genetically Modified
GM = Genetically Modified
ROFL!
What is the toxin?
The difference between something benign or benefitial, is the doseage. Too much water will kill. Other toxins, are generally harmless to humans, like DDT. You can eat that stuff (tastes nasty, but non-lethal).
You beat me to it! :-)
What about born babies?
Everything you eat is subject to genetic modification.
Do you eat anything that is the byproduct of selective breeding in animal husbandry? That organically raised meat has been genetically modified via selective breeding.
And all your organic veggies and grains... those have been selectively bred through hybridization, which by its very definition is genetic modification.
So - the only way to avoid any contact with genetically modified food is to die.
No agenda here, I see.

This obviously smells like inadequate testing. How could our green liberals have possibly let something like this pass right under their noses?
Well, there is a difference between selective breeding and genetic modification such as injecting DNA and genes from one organism into another and other such weird stuff.
Exactly. More “Crisis Mongering” on parade by wackos.
The left touted them as being the great saviour of the starving millions, but it sounds like they might eventually trim our species back to a more normal size and save the planet instead . . .
I wish they’d identify the particular toxin or chemical that is proving harmful to humans (if it is). There are many substances that naturally occur in vegetables used by humans for food which in some measure protect these same vegetables from insects and other pests while they are growing. If this is more of the same, borrowing a “toxin” from, say, onions for use in, say, broccoli, there shouldn’t be any reason to complain about it (except maybe allergies).
In Monsanto’ case, I’ve read where they modify the food so as to add more chemicals later, roundup.
Some of this “weirdness” happens through natural enough agents such as viruses and bacteria, which have the capability of schlepping bits of genetic material between highly different organisms. The tendency of most of these changes is to get evolved right back out, but occasionally one will stick around.
