Tis' the season (Vanity)
Vanity | 05/26/2011 | Glenn

Posted on 05/26/2011 8:39:15 AM PDT by Glenn

I'm getting a lot of phone calls these days.

Newt seems to be the source of most of them.

I tossed him $100 on a Saturday morning after a hard night of drinking and hanging out at FR. He immediately gave my email address to a few hundred thousand of his closest friends.

Now, between 8 and 9 PM, I get a call from some conservative group grubbing for money. Here are my tips for deciding whether they are worthy or not.

1) Ask who their CEO is. If they say "Rush Limbaugh", might as well ask them "What are you wearing?" and hang up.

2) Ask the caller who he/she voted for in the last election. If they "don't remember", then they are just in it for the money. Hang up.

3) Ask if the caller donated to the cause and how much. The answers are always amusing.

I know it is the giving season, but stop treating me like the town moron.

Know who you are soliciting for. Know why you are soliciting. Know the key topics.

I only have so much money to spread around, and I want to make it stretch.

Newt, you are stealing from a viable candidate.

To my fellow Freepers, if you can't decide, donate to FreeRepublic. There is no wrong choice in that.

To the GOP, stop playing us for fools. We know better.

If you feed a stray cat, all of a sudden your back porch is home to ever cat in the neighborhood.

I have a hard and fast rule — if I give to a charity and I get solicited by others soon after, I never give to that one again.

By now I have a solid, small, list of charities whose activities I support and don’t bother me.

You sent $100 to Newt? You must have been drunk. Think about all the more important things you could have purchased, like more booze.

Conservatives give directly to the candidate of their choice - NO EXCEPTIONS! Ask those whoring for Newt for your money back.

Next time you have a hard night of drinking...send me 100 bucks. I’ll put it to much better use than Nuetered would.
