He maybe the president of the most powerful nation in the world, but his car still needs filling up with petrol.
Workers at a garage in Pimlico today told of their astonishment after Barack Obama's car and the presidential entourage pulled up for refuelling.
The armoured limousine, nicknamed "The Beast", arrived with six other vehicles and police escort at a BP petrol station on Vauxhall Bridge Road during the president's state visit to London.
Onlookers said the cars took up the entire forecourt when they arrived yesterday at around 3pm.

This was a pit stop for ice cream too! Rocky Road.
May the roads rise to meet him.
i don’rt see anything amiss here - the car was gettign low on gas, and the driver took it out to refuel. obama wasn’t inside.
the bad part is the eight dollar a gallon price of gas over there and the knowledge that they want us to pay the same.
Very true. It is probably even safer to bring the gasoline or diesel (whichever it is) with you.
You nailed it. It's a culture of incompetence that emanates from the top, and affects the whole chain of command and staff.
Because normally we don’t see any of this. The smallest item could benefit our enemies. For example they now know that the Beast needs flat roads and cannot handle bumps like the one from the embassy.
I saw a video clip yesterday of Obama talking to the commander of the British military that have the tall bushy headgear. All the men were equipped with swords and the commander who was talking to Obama had his sword drawn and positioned vertically and tucked into his armpit. My mind went back to the Naval Academy ceremony where the Secret Service wouldn’t allow the cadets to wear their ceremonial swords.
Michelle was on board.......
Community organizan be a hard yob, so he be lost wid the mechanecles of ca’as.
Indeed the Volt must have been in the shop.
I give a fat smelly Obama about anything the idiot-in-chief does.
I guess I’m having a hard time figuring out what’s “embarassing” about this. They have to fuel the thing up, so the secret service takes the vehicles out and gasses them up. They’re not doing it with the President on board. They’re probably taking advantage of some time at day meetings when the entourage vehicles can get away and fuel up. So what?
Most likely they left one or two vehicles wherever the President was, just in case they had to do an emergency extraction.
Maybe it’s time for Smirky to take some of his own advice....and get a smaller car.
After all, small car for a small and diminishing man.
For the love of Pete, why doesn’t the motorcade have a vehicle used for a type of tanker. Unbelievable.
I'm not sure why it should hurt one's national pride that the presidential limo needs gas. Note that the article said that Obama did not appear to be in the car at the time. If he had been, it might have been a security issue, but still not a real source of embarrassment. Cars need gas. Is is embarrassing that the president of the US doesn't ride in a nuclear-powered car?
sorry... no gas available
check the station on Churchill street
Why doesn’t FUBO put his money where his mouth is and ride in an electric vehicle?
Still... you just never saw this sort of thing go on until now. Maybe it is just the prevalence of cell phone cameras... but it just seems like more of these things were done "behind the scenes" than now.
It’s interesting that while Obummer had his own “Beast” built at the beginning of his term, this heavily armored and bulletproof version shipped to England is the 2005 model used by President Bush throughout his term. I’d like to think our president is given the best security available regardless of party.
I don’t know why the newer model was left in the states, or how many are actually in the fleet.
“He is so gay he has never changed a flat tire let alone plug it. Thats my guess”
Oh he’s plugged it, just not a tire.
