you’d think Republicans would go out and recruit a “progressive” to run like Davis to split the vote.

"If I understood correctly, this was not a fake Democrat Tea Party candidate,..."

Not a fake? This "Tea Party" candidate ran as a DEMOCRAT in past elections. How's that for fake?

We can thank Newt for this disaster. He just had to trash Ryan’s medicare save plan.

I don’t care how many so called great ideas that newt espouses, he needs to SHUT UP.

And I do wish Rush would stop praising newt. Enough already!!!

A democrat pretending to be a tea party candidate stole this election. The republican had to surmount the dem lies about Paul Ryan’s plan to save medicare.

We had a good candidate.

It could mean they cheates, but it could also mean the country isn`t quite as conservative as we here on FR might want to believe.

Thanks, Tea Party! You've just cost us another seat! Go Third Party! Yay! Preserve Democrat dominance for the next century! Woooo Hoooo! You've got it backwards,we only need two people running in these races but we have to make sure the MOST conservative person wins the GOP primaries and if not find a way to have the RINO party drop out entirely. The GOP has to learn they will NOT win without running the most conservative candidate. If not, the Tea Party will become the true second party and the GOP will go into the dustbins of history.

This “TEA Party” candidate maxed out to Obama in 2008 and ran previous as a Democrat.

The "Tea Party" candidate ran twice as a Democrat.

This is very alarming because this may be used in the future by democrats to steal votes from Republicans.

Let's face us, a lot of people aren't bright. Clearly, there were people fooled by this guy thinking he really did hold the ideals of the tea party when he really just wanted to help the rat win.

True! There is no excuse in the age of the Net. Anybody could find out the "Tea Party" candidate was a Democrat playing games.

RE :”Ryan’s plan might be a perfectly logical economic proposal- but the plain truth that many people don’t want to admit is a fair amount of senior citizens don’t always have all the mental sharps they once had, and the Dems’ demagoguing works. Ryan’s plan can always be brought up again with a Repub Senate majority and president. And if we get downgraded in our credit rating before that time... well, that’s Obama’s problem.

I don't see a Republican president ever pushing that plan no matter what they promise now to get through the primary. Remember GWB expanded medicare all on the nation's credit card mainly to win Florida in 2004. That is so far opposite of the Ryan plan it's on the other side of the universe.

As far as the Ryan plan being logical try this:#139 for a more realistic approach.

This is almost completely meaningless. First, the pubbies lose one seat. Big wup, so their majority is down to 49 seats. Means even less when with a demhole senate and WH. Second, the seat will probably disappear with redistricting. The bad news is we have to listen to the demholes and mediapukes tell us how the demholes winning in a R-heavy district means everyone hates republicans again because of the Ryan budget, it’s a backlash against Republican extremism, yada, yada, yada….barf. We all know without the third party fraud in the race, the seat goes R easily.

Therein lies the danger.

The demholes will now recruit a similar fraud to split the R vote in 20 or 30 really competitive races in 2012. Fraud and deceit is their best bet, and they’re good at it. And the mediawhores will help them. I live in WNY. Anytime this election was mentioned on the radio “news”, Davis was refered to as a/the “tea-party candidate” when it was obvious to all he’s no such thing.

A dangerous precedent has been set. I think this is the race where a so called Tea Party guy ran as a Tea Party candidate.

One of the snafus of the Tea Party endorsing candidates and running candidates is that you get false TP candidates entering as spoilers to enable a democrat win.

The TP should have stayed out of running candidates. There are so many factions of Tea Parties that it is not known who is genuine and who is not.

That 8% taught me a lesson, too. That they are either democrats or they’re imbeciles.

RE :”And, they decide to lead with cutting Medicare? Just terrific strategic marketing.

I think all your points are exactly the same ones many voters voted Republican in November are thinking now.

Republicans pretty much hid the Ryan plan from voters last year and instead ran on protecting Medicare benefits(a big mistake I warned at the time) and instead cutting Obama-care and all the new spending since Pelosi took over the House in 2007, or at least 2009. It is not like they won a mandate to do this.See Republicans mixed messages at #109

House Republicans knew this proposal would be toxic when they pushed for a vote:see #65. There is some reason they still pushed this, maybe they thought it would blow over by election day. Ryan probably wants to be like John Kasich was in 2003 and 2004, a hero to the Republican base. But I am beyond symbolic gestures, I am going to judge on results and getting Democrats elected (if that continues) without getting anything into law will be a failure as far as I am concerned.

I did not vote. Corwin was flimsy NOT a true principled moral and fiscal conservative. Many people did not vote.

People vote because of their fears. That is why demogogues-usually Democrats- win.

The region is infested with federal and state largesse—few want to rock that sinking ship.
