LONDON – It was all going so well.
But when the time came for President Obama to deliver his toast to Queen Elizabeth Tuesday night, the meticulously planned state dinner at Buckingham Palace turned, well, awkward.
As Obama began wrapping up his remarks, he put down his notecards and picked up his glass.
“Ladies and gentlemen, please stand with me and raise your glasses as I propose a toast,” the president said, as the guests stood up. “To her majesty the Queen.”
At this point, the band queued up “God Save the Queen.” But Obama wasn’t quite finished yet.
So he kept talking – over the British national anthem – and the president competed with orchestra for a few more seconds.
“For the vitality,“ Obama said just before the music started, “of the special relationship between our peoples, and in the words of Shakespeare, ‘To this blessed plot, this Earth, this realm, this England.’”
Obama raised his glass, but nobody else in view of the camera followed. And the queen, who had been looking straight ahead, glanced over to offer a pained smile.

A Freeper has the picture taken in Arizona (I think)...everyone else is respectfully standing with hand on heart (even Hillary). Obama looks like he is waiting in line for the bathroom.
Two trips to the palace but only one State Visit....hence the fact that the lovely Michelle wore a shiny bolero instead of the wool cardigan she wore last time.
In fairness to the Wookie....the dress she wore to the banquet was very nice.

Between the code name for him being Chalaque, or smartass, to meeting with the newlyweds, "We must show them we appreciate their visit and wish them no ill will before we have our sport with them."
To the elaborate dinner with orchestra and full dress assemblage to make the 0bamas look like striped neckties at a white tie affair.
To "Please grace Parliament with your extraordinary oratory skills" and reveal yourself as a total blithering idiot.
This appears to be an elaborately staged event to publicly dismiss the juvenile mewlings of the 0bamas for not being invited to The Wedding, all the while exposing them for their buffoonry and oafishness for all the world to see.
Indeed, the Queen is noted for her ability to charm, "We so very much appreciate the pleasure of your company" those with whom she is displeased while subtlely drawing and quartering them.
The Royal Quarters were probably echoing with gales of laughter last night.
Wouldn't be surprised if the 0bamas never visit the UK again.
It goes back to the notion that the King (of England) is head of the Church versus Jesus Christ being the head of the Church. And then there’s the whole Declaration of Independence and American Revolution.
If you watch the tape, you will see that he still glanced down at them on the table several times during his toast speech. The fact that he looked all the way down towards the table made it look twice as bad. This idiot can't even deliver a simple toast before dinner without reading it word-for-word from a note card, television screen, or teleprompter. It was an embarrassment for every US citizen.
Your post seemed alright, other than the crack about American boorishness. However, I’ve lived in the UK and on the Continent and I’ve seen the odd behaviors of the peculiar natives so I didn’t take your rudeness personaly.

I think we've so far established his assumed father was a subject of the British Crown and his mother was a skanky ho who rutted with dirty hippies.
I was trying to report on the opinion here in the UK - not only of Obama continuing to talk during the anthem, but his behavior in failing to actually toast the Queen, which is totally unacceptable. A simply sign of respect for your host, totally ignored.
If my word choice offended, I apologise, but it was honestly the only word for his behaviour that sprang to mind, having been bandied about quite openly on the various political boards here.
