I am well over 50 and attended excellent schools as a child. We were taught that “natural born” meant “not naturalized.” If you were born on US soil, you were natural born. If either of your parents was a citizen, you were natural born.

That’s what we were taught back then.

I am over 50 also and that is definitely not what we were taught at my school. Maybe you went to one of those excellent progressive schools? So you were taught if two illegal alien al qaeda fugatives had a baby in the United States and took the baby back to Pakistan, that this baby was then eligible to be president on his return to the USA? Right! Sounds believable to me. Or if a sworn enemy of the United States had a baby with an underage girl who was a United States citizen out of the country, that the child would be eligible to be president when he returned to this country? Right!

I hate to tell you, but your mind is playing tricks on you. It happens to a lot of us oldsters. You might think about getting some type of checkup that includes a test of your cognitive abilities. It is very unlikely that they taught you that in school, not even the most liberal progressive school; because neither of these scenarios makes any sense. You are making it up to fit what you want to believe now.

Answer just one question for me. Why did the Democrats make a big deal out of the circumstances of John McCain's birth if he could be born anywhere with just one citizen parent and still be considered natural born? Both of his parents were United States Citizens. His did was an admiral in the Navy. Either you are confused about what you were taught or your school and your parents didn't teach you right and wrong very well, because lying is considered bad by most of us.

Sand lake bar I just want to quote you from another thread. I would remind you that other than the two of us... this thread is probably dead at this point. I think in your zeal to defend Muslims that you have left some clues about your perspective.

sand lake bar, “Sorry, the Muslim friends and family members I have are not Nazis, they love America. I’m wondering how many Muslims you actually know personally.”

I don't have any family members who are Muslims as you do, but I have known some Muslims personally, and what I learned from them is frankly... scary.

Most notably... My wife hired a bus driver about ten years ago for her activity program at a large multilevel retirement center. He was from Somalia and he was a Muslim. He hated America and everything that our country stands for. He was only here to make money to send back to his wives and many children in Somalia.

Most people had a hard time getting along with Abdul, but I treated him well and talked to him many times, because I wanted to know what made him and his friends tick. He confided in me on many occasions. By the time my wife finally had to fire him for lying and fighting with other employees and residents, I had learned a lot more than I wanted to about him and his friends. I can tell you that he had no sympathy in the least for the victims of the 9-11 attack on our country. He considered the perpetrators martyrs and admired them greatly.

I am not optimistic about large groups of Muslims in this country ever fully integrating and becoming true Americans. If anyone here wants to know how Abdul and his friends felt about us, they ought to watch the English comedy movie, Four Lions. It is available for “instant watching” on the computer through Netflix. It is meant to be funny, but some of the characters are chillingly accurate.

It is no wonder to me that you are here advocating a definition of “Natural Born Citizen” that is basically all inclusive. You have... according to you, Muslim family members and friends. I suppose that some of them would not be considered Natural Born Citizens by the majority of us on Free Republic. Maybe this is hard for you to accept?
