Zogby New Poll Stunner: Christie, Cain Lead GOP Pack

A new IBOPE Zogby poll shows Atlanta businessman Herman Cain vaulting into the No. 1 front-runner position among active candidates as the choice to win the GOP presidential nomination in 2012.

Cain, a longtime Pillsbury executive who later became chairman of the U.S. Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City, was the preferred choice of 14 percent of the likely Republican primary voters polled.

His showing placed second only to New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, who got 17 percent. Christie, however, has insisted repeatedly that he will not be running for president in 2012. Ron Paul placed third with 10 percent, followed by former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, who had 9 percent.

Pollster John Zogby told Newsmax.TV in an exclusive interview that the sudden rise of Cain shows the degree of restlessness among GOP faithful, given their current options.

“He’s not well known. He’s very plain speaking,” Zogby said. “But when someone enters the forum, as he did during that debate, and rises to the top, it’s kind of like Donald Trump, it’s kind of like Chris Christie: “We don’t like the field, this is a guy that we can believe in.’”

Cain was considered the winner of the recent Fox News debate held in South Carolina. His memorable applause line came when a panelist pointed out that he lacked experience holding public office. Cain pointed out that almost everyone elected to national office in Washington, D.C., had prior public service experience.

The poster in question is probably a Paul supporter. They all share the same bone headed ignorance. Including Ron Paul.

You're dealing with a Paultard.

Herman Cain is a good conservative. How far he will get is anyone's guess at this point.

But do you think Christie would make a good Labor Secretary at the cabinet level? That would turn his blowhard self adoration into something useful at the national level. His willingness to be direct to a hostle crowd is something not seen in decades. Especially unscripted.

I do love listening to Herman speak. He is someone to recon with and I DO hope he gains traction. He is exactly what we need to beat Obama!

Christie wouldn’t take that position. He’s interested in the presidency, and to do that he’d reup as guv, then go for it. The labor department is a backwater.

Christie himself said he did not want the Presidency. He is satisfied with being Governor right now. Later? Who knows, but I sure don’t like him as a POTUS candidate.....

Reminds me of what my Pastor often says: "You don't get people to covert by telling them that they are going to hell, you get them to convert by telling them that they CAN go to heaven."

Paulist try to covert people by telling them how lame/bad and unconstitutional and otherwise brow beat them with with Paul. I swear that if Thomas Jefferson came back from the dead to run the Paulist would say that he was not near the Constitutionalist that Paul is.

LOL!

That’s true, they would also probably say that we had no business fighting an “Unconstitutional” war against England either.......

You aren’t paying close attention.

In fact, I think you’re just making stuff up.

Palin Overall unfavorable - 26
Palin Overall strong unfavorable - 7
Paul Overall unfavorable - 25
Paul Overall strong unfavorable - 3
Gingrich Overall unfavorable - 24
Gingrich Overall strong unfavorable - 4
Romney Overall unfavorable - 17
Romney Overall strong unfavorable - 3

Her negatives are outweighed by her positives, giving her the highest “positive intensity score” of the top 3.

“My logical choice is a real conservative who can beat Obama.”

And the next logical choice should be anyone who can beat Obama.

The voters may not let the GOP establishment pick our candidate, but they will certainly try to undermine who we pick.

Right, I’m just making it up as I go.......(From Newsmax/Gallup;

[Palin had the highest name recognition, at 96 percent, but the former Alaska governor is a divisive figure. Her positive intensity rating was just 16.] Which means 84% less than positive rating........

Thanks for your help there, in this particular debate, this particular thread, I’m wearing my “cmon you morons, can’t you see the numbers are really strong for Palin” hat, not my “no, not Libertarian, but Limited Constitutional Government Conservative” hat.

The only point I was trying to make is that the kind of people, when they hear “was chairman of the Kansas City Fed”, who would be impressed, who would say “that’s an elite credential, he must be smart”, are the elites.

I’m not arguing that the Fed is good, or the Fed is bad, but there are a lot of people these days questioning the Fed, and they aren’t the elite RINOs.

And my recommendation is that Cain take note that that particular resume bullet would be more helpful with elites. With that Fed cred, he can go up against Romney as the technocrat businessman who was approved by the Kansas City Fed, a very important establishment institution, to be its head.

In 1801 President Jefferson dispatched a group of Navy frigates to defend American interests in the Mediterranean. The Navy and Marines confronted and defeated the Muslim Barbary Pirates. I seriously doubt Jefferson would be voting against protecting Americans from the likes of Al Qaeda, or proclaiming America was to blame for 911 and not the terrorists. Could you imagine Jefferson telling the world the US had no right to kill Osama Bin Laden.

Ron Paul's foreign policy is weak, naive and dangerous to America's future. Thank God Paul will never be elected President.
