he Guardian says that many politicians privately wonder[ed] then how he would cope in a puritan U.S. which frowns upon sexual advances.WTF! So treating women with respect is considered "puritan"?

Another woman, this one in France, is preparing to go to the police, says the Guardian, alleging Strauss-Kahn sexually assaulted her in 2002. The alleged victims mother, a prominent socialist politician, reportedly dissuaded her from pursuing the matter previously fearing it would hurt a Strauss-Khan, a Socialist politician with a bright future. Sheesh. What kind of woman sells out her daughter in favor of a politician?
To: dragonblustar
WTF! So treating women with respect is considered "puritan"? It would be interesting to see if The Guardian has an "employee manual," and to see if that manual contains language describing acceptable and unacceptable behavior toward female employees of The Guardian.

Ironic that ANYONE would consider the US ‘puritan’ when women walk around half naked pretty much anywhere, college shower rooms are coed, porn is endemic, TV is littered with shows that emphasize sexual relations, and many people feel a first date is a failure if it doesn’t end in bed.
One is prompted to wonder what a society of libertines might be...
To: dragonblustar
Yes, Ransom was going along just fine until he got to the Puritan comment. I sent him an email about that. Perhaps others might do the same.
American is not Puritan in this case, but modern, and protective of a woman’s right to say no to unwanted sex.

I cannot believe this young woman’s mother told her to hush up because it would damage some idiot’s career prospects. With a parent like that...

They call us “Puritanical” because we don’t like being raped? Indeed. If that fat 62-year-old had tried it on me, he would have ended up with his jaw broken and some of his favorite body parts chewed right off.

...What kind of woman sells out her daughter in favor of a politician? A french woman politician who is a socialist sells out her daughter!
(sarcasm)I guess, that the extreme to cultural sensitivity is that we should allow important French socialist leaders to have different standards of sexual conduct.
I mean if some folks are allowed to beat their daughters for religious reasons, why can't french socialists of the ruling class be allowed to sodomize maids? We need to be culturally sensitive within the USA. (/sarcasm)
