"There are certainly reasonable accomodations for women serving in support roles."

I was lucky enough to have worn both combat arms (Armor) and combat support (MP) brass on my collar during my Army career and my perspective has been forged thusly. I would NEVER want a female serving in a tank crew. As for MP operations where there is significant interaction with host nation civilians, third country nationals, etc., female soldiers are invaluable.

I was once ordered to let a female communications soldier ‘help out’ with the gun crew in a ‘worst case scenario’ demonstration.

a 105lb female lifting a 90lb artillery shell and maneuvering it into the breech?

Even for a man, it’s already a worst case and they’ve made it worser.
