Please pass this on to all the other retired guys and gun owners -- Thanks From a Vietnam Vet and retired Police Officer: I had a doctors appointment at the local VA clinic yesterday and found out something very interesting that I would like to pass along. While going through triage before seeing the doctor, I was asked at the end of the exam, three questions : 1 . Did I feel stressed? 2. Did I feel threatened? 3. Did I feel like doing harm to someone? The nurse then informed me, that if I had answered yes to any of the questions, I would have lost my concealed carry permit as it would have gone into my medical records and the VA would have reported it to Homeland Security.
Looks like they are going after the vets first. Other gun people, like retired law enforcement will probably be next. Then when they go after the civilians, what argument will they have? Be forewarned and be aware. The Obama administration has gone on record as considering veterans and gun owners potential terrorists. Whether you are a gun owner veteran or not, you've been warned.. If you know veterans and gun owners, please pass this on to them.
Be Very cautious about what you say and to whom.
I think I would have said other than kicking a certain doctors ass, no.
That's pretty much anyone with a job and/or kids.
” Like anybody in their right mind would answer in the affirmative to question number three? “
There have been times, when I’ve gotten caught up in the endless-loop of the VA Administrative Process...
Hmmmmmm.....
Only when the voices in my head tell me to.
I doubt many cops will take this seriously due to the perceived “thin blue line”. However, if they were smart, they’d take a few minutes to think about the ramifications of this and how it’s going to have a profound effect on their lives.
They put bad guys behind bars and there is always the threat of vendetta hanging over their heads for the rest of their lives.
Now maybe they’ll understand what us gun owners have dealt with over the past few decades. My message to LE out there is start rolling the crap uphill and make your superiors stop backing gun control. Gun control like this is going to get you killed.
Sadly, I think the proverbial camel’s back is about to break and all holy hell is going to break loose in our nation.
You would be amazed by what people will tell you if you ask them.
If someone sat in a waiting room for HOURS and then got some runaround with their appointment, possibly they could be to the point of answering “yes” to number 3, if only for the moment of frustration.
I'm not sure about this. Under the LEOSA (Law Enforcement Officer's Safety Act), retired cops don't need a concealed carry permit.
I was stunned a couple years ago (the first time it happened) to learn that standard Q&A from pediatricians during childhood checkups is “Are there any guns in the home?”
I avoid the VA like the plague.
The Title is all in caps so I am suspicious of the truth of this.
That was the original and I was too lazy to lower-case it. Sorry. Suspect away.
Just nosy, know-it-all busybodies. Why do you ask?
lol
“The only exemption to the case would be if a hospital were asked to assist in a criminal investigation.” Ahem.
“The nurse then informed me, that if I had answered yes to any of the questions, I would have lost my concealed carry permit “
False. Answering yes to any of those questions (which probably aren’t even asked) doesn’t affect your CC. If you say you want to blow up a government building, they share that with Homeland security. They don’t call HS to grab a CC every time someone says they are stressed. They would be calling constantly and people would be screaming about losing their CC.
Ours was sneaky, it asked if anyone in the home was a hunter. Son was smart enough to ask what that had to do with his asthma. Subject was dropped when dad walked in the room.
