The Supreme Court is brushing aside an atheist's challenge to religion in government, refusing to hear a complaint about President Barack Obama adding "so help me God" to his inaugural oath of office.

The high court on Monday refused to hear an appeal from Michael Newdow, who argued that government references to God are unconstitutional and infringe on his religious beliefs.

Many presidents have added "so help me God" to the oath.

Oh, my non-existent supreme being, is this loser still hanging around? Doesn’t he have a job or somewhere to be?

I guess since he added to the oath, that makes him ineligible?:)

Newdow is on thin ice. The President nor any official have to say so help me God. It is not part of the oath. They can affirm if they so choose. President Pierce did not “swear” on a bible. He affirmed. Washington said “So Help Me God” spontaneously.

If Newdow is offended by an elected official swearing upon a bible, that’s his problem. He doesn’t have to watch the ceremony.

GOOD!

If they don’t believe in God, then it should mean nothing to them to say it.
If they feel so strongly that they want to live in a country without God, they should move to one of the Communist, atheist, worker’s paradises.
