NAIROBI, Kenya (AP) -- Kenyan Olympic marathon champion Sammy Wanjiru committed suicide by jumping from a balcony shortly after a domestic dispute involving his wife and another woman, police said Monday. He was 24.
Wanjiru died late Sunday after jumping from a balcony at his home in the town of Nyahururu, in the Rift Valley, said John Mbijiwe, the police chief in Kenya's Central Province.
"The fact of the matter is that Wanjiru committed suicide," said national police spokesman Eric Kiraithe.

The wife probably didn’t think so especially with that knife in her hand she was chasing him with. He found the quickest and safest way out of the house but forgot that last step was a lulu.
After reading the article and what they mentioned of his history, are they sure it wasn’t assisted suicide?

Its nice that I can at least pronounce the first names of everyone in this article. As to the jumper, too bad that a youngster threw it all away over a domestic dispute.
Some men don’t understand — put a bag over their heads, they all look alike.
To kill oneself over this was stupid. If you don’t like your wife then divorce her. If you love your mistress then marry her. But stop screwing around because you’re wasting your energy, your time, and in the end, it really makes no difference.
Same goes for that fool from France. He’s messed up his career and life for what? A hotel maid is accusing him of sodomy.
What was his Olympic event?
The long jump?
If I was involved in a dispute with my wife and the other woman, it would result in my homicide, not my suicide.
