Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich said Sunday that he strongly supports a federal mandate requiring citizens to buy health insurance – a position that has been rejected by many Republicans, including several who likely will be running against him for the Republican presidential nomination.
Appearing on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” Gingrich told host David Gregory that he continues to advocate for a plan he first called for in the early 1990s as a Congressman, which requires every uninsured citizen to purchase or acquire health insurance.

Gregory asked Gingrich if he would criticize GOP presidential rival Mitt Romney, whose "Romneycare" health program enacted during his time as Governor in Massachusetts mandated that all uninsured purchase health insurance.
Gingrich replied he would not make it an issue in the campaign and said he agreed with key aspects of Romneycare.
"I agree that all of us have a responsibility to pay--help pay for health care," Gingrich said, adding, "I've said consistently we ought to have some requirement that you either have health insurance or you post a bond ..."

Newt is not as smart as many think and he is a Politician (I use that word as an epithet). If he was in any setting where he could influence students they would end up with the same, wishy-washy, "triangulating" philosophy as Newt.
I know that he’s an elitist Republican...or at least he thinks of himself that way.
The one thing I need to remember is that he’s one who sticks his finger in the wind.
He’s an opportunist more than he’s an elitist.
He sure was with his global warming fiasco appearance with San Fran Nan.
To me that was as bad as his backing of *The Scuzzy Woman* in the NY House of Rep. race.

Existential unceratainty and fear are as old as Mankind.
Especially in view of the absence of religious faith, many want to substitute an all powerful government for an all powerful God.
Unfortunately, government is unlimited in stupidity and incompetence; God, meanwhile, is unlimited in knowledge, wisdom, and insight.
So if I single you out among all the 330 million people who live in this country to be my running mate and potentially be the Vice President of the United States, you would show your loyalty by back-stabbing me two years later when I want to run for re-election to my senate seat? Based on this Romney is the GOP’s candidate and Newt has entered the race to market Romney’s nanny static idiocy to the middle and rightwng voters
